The Philippine National Football Team, dubbed as the Philippine Azkals ended up the better of the two sides as they denied Singapore any goal, thus any chance of winning the match with a 2-0 away victory.
Singapore denied by Azkals 2-0 at home
The Philippine National Team has outclassed Singapore 2-0 in an intense away game that marks the Philippine Azkals’ first victory in Singapore. Scorers for the Football Team of the Philippines were Chieffy Caligdong (8th) and Phil Younghusband (49th).
In the second of three International Friendlies sanctioned FIFA, the Philippine Azkals made history on Singaporean soil with their first win in Singapore. It wasn’t an easy game, but the Philippines did just enough to deny Singapore a chance to get back into the game, thanks to exceptional Goalkeeping of Neil Etheridge.
Philippines vs Laos in third game
While the Philippines ended up in a 0-0 draw with Cambodia in the first game and a 0-2 away win at Singapore it looks much more likely that Philippines will bag a second win against Laos – though I’d fancy the idea that they may lose this one, just to complete the circle. (One draw, one win, one loss)
All these friendly games sanction by FIFA serve not only as simple friendly games for the Philippine National Football Team, but also as a preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012.
