The Buhangin Central Elementary School invited us for the Cheez Whiz Palamantasan School Elimination last Saturday, July 17, 2010 at their covered court in Buhangin, Davao City. Cheez Whiz Palamantasan is a nationwide effort from Kraft and the Department of Education to reinforce proper nutrition this July which is also known as the Nutrition Month.
The Philippine Teens Media Writing Staff, in the form of Rock Caboverde and Kevin Paquet were accompanied by other bloggers and local media friends from Davao on that Saturday morning for the Palamantasan sa Sarap affair.. At around eleven o’clock we headed to the Marco Polo to await our Van which will bring us to the venue in Buhangin. Joining the two PHTM Writers above were various bloggers like, Mark, Richard, Leah, Blogie and co.
The program kicked off a little late but nevertheless it was as promising as it should have been and even a bit more. Emcee of the day was Ateneo de Davao University Alumnus, Samantha de Leon. She is a well known media personality who has been hosting a number of events for the City of Davao Government.
Also present on that afternoon’s affair was the Senior Marketing Manager of Kraft, Paolo Serano and the Principal of the Buhangin Central Elementary School, Arturo Dela Cruz. Mr Serano revealed to the audience that the event was a simultaneous event happening all over the archipelago that moment. In his opening note he stressed out that the aim of the collaboration of the Department of Education and Kraft Foods Philippines was to reinforce proper nutrition and to create awareness about malnutrition in the Philippines which is one of the huge issues our country is facing aside from Poverty in general. He also noted that Education is still the key, but with no proper food, the kids may not get properly be educated.
The BCES Pupils showed off their talents in various sections like: Sabayang Pagbigkas, Cheering, Essay Writing, Sandwich Art and Jarchicheture Making. It was funny to note that way back during my grade school years at the Sta. Ana Central Elementary School (SACES) (GR 5-6), I was one of the audience of an event like this; not a participant. So it happened again today, and it was only now that I came to appreciate their performances, the effort they’ve put into it, the time they invested to memorize the moves and words.
Let this occasion be a reminder to all of us that there are more or less 8,000,000 Filipino Children who are not receiving proper nutrition
The Department of Education is inviting other Elementary Schools across the Philippines to take part in their Palamantasan Event. Make a pledge if you feel the urge to contribute to this advocacy led by the Department of Education and Kraft.

Greetings from Cagayan de Oro City! Cheez Whiz Palamantasan held at East City Central School and my son is one of the contestant representing from LICEO DE CAGAYAN UNIVERSITY. As what we read your rules that only CHEEZ whiz is the main ingridients and why is it that the winner for today's competition has mayonaise and other ingridients that judges could felt it is delicious. I think 3 of them are following the rules for using only and one only used CHEEZ WHIZ no mayonaise and other ingridients. Teachers got angry about the Judges and we thought that the Judges is representatives of Cheez whiz and see the recipies they made. The judges is from DECS as what they said but they are not from Cheez whiz company. Its not fare for other mother who prepare for this and my wife follows the rules and regulation to use and its in the number 1 rules and regulation it says: Each Team's recipe must include Cheez Whiz as MAIN INGREDIENTS. Please inform the President of Krat Cheez Whiz about this and hope the winner is Disqualified in this competition.
Please contact the representative of Cheez whiz in Cagayan de Oro City who perform the competition and look for the recipie of the winner. Lots of teacher and even my wife saw they used another kraft brand which is not follow the rules and regulation.
The winner in the competition of cheez whiz sandwiches is not worthy to be representative in Manila and they are DISQUALIFIED. Please call the President. We are not happy about this competition. Not following the RULES AND REGULATION…. WAG TAYONG MANGLOKO SA KAPWA PILIPINO. BE HONEST……
