If you want headache, use SmartBro

SmartBro Wi-Fi had generally, bad reputation ever since all throughout the Archipelago. Complaints on their service and the speed piling up left and right, and here’s another complaint, I’m yet another victim of their awesome cruel speed.

I used to have Globelines Broadband for over a year and had a lot of problems, specifically with my Yahoo! Messenger and with downloading very large files. The speed is exceptional compared to SmartBro, but the problem then was that my connection would always time out every now and then. As on the counterpart, SmartBro does not have such problems, but the download speed really hurts. Imagine how long downloading a gig bit file would take with a speed of 6kb/s? It would take quite a century, wouldn’t it?

Yes, there are a couple of ways to tweak your internet connection with SmartBro, but does it really make sense? When other Internet Service Provider are a lot faster without those tweaks being applied? It would make some sense if those tweaks would be very easy to do, but it takes a little geeky mind and some of your time, and don’t cry if you would get it right!

One thing is clear, once the people who are living below us (we’re on the second floor) are out, I’ll make use of the 3MB Globelines Connection that they’ve left over on a 1 year contract. And well, let’s see then, which is quicker!

Note: I had 1MB Globelines before.

    Bumili na ako ng Roughclaw reflector at doon ko ikinabit ang Smartbro canopy. Kung di nyo pa nababalitaan ang reflector na to. Check nyo website nila.

Napilit ko rin ang Mom ko! sa dami ba naman ng searches na kailangan for school nakakatulugan ko na sa super ever non-reliable smartbro-ken. Pero ngayon! hassle free na, and am able to communicate with relatives abroad while downloading (most important sa atin). hehehe! am sharing this kasi i am excited how fast and stable na yung connection namin. so dapat kayo din you should be enjoying while surfing the net! May free shirt pa nga it was nice kakainis lang malaki sa akin…

    redundancy masyado. but all im asking is the supervisor where i can relay my concern with assurance thoguh i knew na slow

    moving naman ang service nyo. That rep told me that wait for a while and he will transfer me to the supervisor. 10 mins

    after, he said that supervisor is unavailable. sa sobrang sakit na ng tenga ko sa kakatawag sa Nonsense CS nyo nag ask ako ng

    call back. 5pm kahapon din, tumawag uli ako kasi ung call back na hinihintay ko eh wala pa, sinabi ng rep na nakausap ko for

    th 4th CS nonsense time. sinabi nya sa akin na 5:30 pa raw available ang SUPERVISOR (which if I only knew nagtsitsismisan

    yung mga yun). sige sabi ko asahan ko ang tawag ng sup nyo dahil talagang inis na ako sa service nyo. 5:30 tumawag ang nag

    pakilalang SUPERVISOR na si James Calaquiao (not sure of exact surname).At ayon sa pananalita ng sup na ito na sa una pa lang

    naming pag uusap eh mukha syang hindi supervisor. Unlike those previous supervisor na nakausap ko (way back mids of march)

    na kahit madaling araw ay tinatawagan ako for the update. As usaul sa pag uusap namin nitong sup na ito eh hiningi nya ang

    mga details uli at connections status ko at ibinigay ko naman. 3 times speed meter result at kung ano ano pang kailangan nya.

    nag patry sya na gamitin ang net sa ibang pc which i also did it sa desktop. pero ganun pa rin ang result tulad nung sa

    laptop ko. Nakakinis kausap ito. sa tagal naming nag usap unresolve ang concern ko at ipinagdidiininang okay daw ang

    connection ko. Grabe talaga pag Customer ka lang Ginagawa kang tanga nga ilang mga tanga. Sa sobrang gali ko kasi kahit na

    anong paliwanag ko sa sup na ito eh ganun pa rin ang sagot nya na okay naman po net nyo ehhhh. Ay nakuuu. wala rimng nagawa

    itong nagmamagaling na si supo james na ito. service not being provided for his customer but he insist of what he is

    believing about instead. grabe ka sup. nagmakaawa ako na ayusin aksi matatangal ako sa work pag di ito nagawa ung report ko.

    nag sorry ulit sya, at sa tinging ba nya may magagawa sorry nya, the network promise to give customer at least up to 386kbps

    which infact eversince hindi man lang tumaas kahit 250 kbps man lang at ngaun may 13.10kbps pa…. I asked the sup to let the

    support team inspect the location para malaman nila ang result at mga problem nung internet na ito. Low Service talaga. Alam

    mo kung ano nireply nga sup na ito. Ay,, sir hindi po pwede sa filed visit yan kasi okay nama po connection nyo…bakit ganun

    ang reason out nya, at bakit ung service is ganito? Sir di po maganda yan,… ipinadiinan nya na hindi talaga pwede

    puntahan… nagalit ako sa kanya at sinabing bakit hindi eh kami itong napeperwisyo ng service nyo, sinubukan ko 2 pc na pero

    ganun pa rin speed mababa pa sa dial up….nag pumilit ako na papuntahan ang tech sroup para na rin sila mismo ang makakita

    ng dahilan ng connection ko. Why this kind of people saying that the service is okay, but on our end, even we are trying to

    connect their deviuce in different pc the result is still slow and yet they are saying that service is okay. how are they be

    able to see the exact problem if them, themselves trying to deny what their customer wants, in the first place we are

    customer who they need to give full service. ginagawa ba nila ito for the service talaga or they are trying to hide

    Smartbro has stu**d supervisors, in other call centers its not hard to ask for sup.,but in smartbro you'll put the subs on hold for 30mins but yet the supervisors which suppose to take the call has something to do if they are not in a meeting, they have callouts,or they're on breaks, and they will advised you to coordinate to this groupor thatgroup and after coordinating it the worst is the sup will advised you that subs connection is for monitoring! the subs insist for a supervisor for almost an hour but the sup will advised u to pacify subs.

    Guys, have you experience to ask for supervisor, but it takes so long for a CSR to transfer the call? you have to repeat, repeat, and repeat the all you wanted is to talk to a sup.

      SMART BRO???? What kind of service do they have? VERY POOR…. Imagine, they promised you to provide services 24/7 but they only have midnight service for you… this is the only time yopu can have a fast service connection… and they will tell you that you cannot disconnect the service with them because we ha ve a contract… ang kapal… they have the nerve to tell us about the contract while they cannot provide the services they promised to give… thats SMART BRO is…

      try to call them to complaint about their service you received, the operator tell you to check about this and that… but whern to tell them that there's nothing happen, they will tell you to wait for 24 hours, they'll check the problem, but nothing happen… when you call them the next day, they will tell you the same thing… until such time na ikaw mismo ang magsawa sa pagrereklamo…HAY NAKU… I wanted to pull their hair… POOR SERVICE… thats what they really can provide…

    helow po, its really true, minsan lang po ako magkarron ng mahinang connection, siguro po kasi, dito sa amin, magkatabing bahay eh mayrooong internet provided by the smart, from my canopy antenna,, parang 10 at 30 meters lang ung agwat tapos canopy antena nananaman, i think dat inicdent matter, pero matanong ko lang po ha? kung lalagyan po ba ng roughclaw dish ung canopy antena ng smart.. hindi po ba magagalit ung smart? baka po kasi kasuhan kami couz of modifying their atena!! paki pm nalang po ako,, +639263240221 – salamt po

      I think when you subscribe, there's a contract given diba? Read and review the contract and see if putting something like that is forbidden. We're not technicians here eh so we can't give you accurate answers. :) If nothing about that is written in the contract, then I guess it's a go. Just tell them na wala silang concrete statement sa contract if they reprimand you for it.

    i havent read the contract kasi po ms clarissa, tama po ba? hehe.. online kasi ako umaplay tapos pinatext lang nila ung valid id ko, tapos pati ung number tsaka ibang important details,tapos sabi nila, byaran ko ito,, 999 sa wireless center nila, kinabukasan, na-install na po internet conection ko, maganda po ang cignal, may nakita rin po akong canopy antena na may dish eh, about 10 kilometers po yata from the base station. kaya ginamtian nila ng dish, a circle black dish, ibig sabihin po pala nun ms clarissa, nasa costumer na po ba kung palalagyan niya o hindi? i was just thingking nga po if kung ipapalagay ko nalang ung antena ko sa rooftop namin, nasa harap lang po kasi ng bahay, tapos the best thing there is kitang-kita niya ung base station. walang puno na nakaharang.. pero conection is still geting lost special 10am-8pm.. shit smart

      Nako bobo ako sa ganyan! I don't even know about the antennas you're talking about. But I think if other people are doing it, it's impossible that they aren't aware of it. We all know how sensitive these companies are when we modify stuff. So if it's prohibited, eh di sana tinanggal na nila dati pa. Smart pa eh corporately speaking they are very mataga lol!!! Gets mo? I hope we're in the same boat haha kasi di ako technically oriented eh! If you want, you can always call them! Pero pwede 'yun! I think it's not bad naman for customers to enhance their connections given that Smart is shitty! Haha. Ako Globe ako eh, shitty dati pero pinagmumura ko yung Globe customer service at saka may malapit na center dito kaya sinusugod ko minsan. Seriously! Appear fierce and these companies won't annoy you in due time. Good luck! Don't call me "miss"! :) Thanks. =)

        salamat po ____ ? hmmm,, anu po itatawag ko sa inyo,, maam nalang cguro,,hehe (paxexnxa po).. smart lang po kasi isp na mura dito sa amin eh, meron naman po dsl, pero wireless (dont know if its a dsl nga buh) their monthly payment po is umaabot ng 4tousand, but their cgnal is very good, even raining malakas parin.. (buti pa cla) tnx nalang po sa advise.. dun po sa kalapit town po namin meron na ung globe, newbie po ako sa smart broken ehh,, tapos 2 years ung contract.. maam reyes meron po ba way kung paano ko maloloko ung smart broken para papayag silang ipatanggal ko yung subscription ko sa kanila? help naman po,, salamt po!

          Ah you mean ipapabreak mo yung bond ng Smart para makakuha ka na ng ibang ISP? Haha. Wag nyo na bayaran then find another eligible adult for another service–let us say from Smart you wanna switch to Globe or Bayantel. If you have another eligible adult in the household, use that person for the next connection. Why is this important? Kasi ngayon, corporate companies have already a database of subscribers na may liabilities sa ibang companies. So if ever magapply ka sa iba because you want to switch, they might decline your application kasi makikita nilang may liability ka pa sa Smart. Ngayon kapag nagpunta or tumawag iyong Smart people, say lang na lumipat na ng bahay 'yung nakapangalan sa bill. Medyo mangungulit 'yan pero they will soon get tired of it. When this happened to us when we were still using PLDT (we're now using Globe) dahil sobrang crappy ng customer care ng PLDT, they went to our home and asked if the "old owner" of the house left the router and stuff like that and we just gave it kasi nga iniwan ng "old owner". Haha. Ayun. I suggest that you start not paying Smart if you have already another line installed–this will magnify the credibility of your statements which is may ibang owner na nga 'yung house and you can always say that you did not know that the "old owner" of the house or tenant of the house had Smart installed pala hence you seeked for another line. Well of course, be wary of the people you'd ask to show up outside the house kasi nga naman baka makilala diba? That was why I was saying that you should use another eligible adult. :)

          I hope na-gets mo 'yung sinabi ko. Don't worry. There is no law here in our country which will give these sucker companies the right to file cases against you because you have unpaid bills. Well magkano lang ba ang unpaid bills nyo if ever? I don't think Smart will hire law firms pa para kulitin kayo sa halagang mas maliit pa sa professional fees na hihingin ng law firms. And may "new owner" na nga 'yung house diba? Eh sorry sila, panget service eh! Haha. I recommend Bayantel. Kaso nga lang usually kapag umuulan, wala rin eh! But the best so far according to my peers who are Internet addicts as well is Sky Broadband. And oh, Sun wireless. I don't know how it's called pero yun. Inquire ka na lang! :) Globe is okay but sumpungin eh. And wala kaming choice since mura nga.

    naku clarissa! tnx for the advise, it helps na.. in my case, i dont have any unpaid bill kasi new palang etong connection namin last october 23, 2009 lang po ito, tapos i paid the first payment of 99 pesos november 23 na, i was just wondering bakit di naputol ung connection ko , i can browse parin website, like fs and fb,, siguro nga di pa nila pinutol muna kasi i have 1 month free pa ehh,, pero naisip ko lang baka dun sa proxy na iniligay ko sa settings ng browsers ko,, im using ie8.0, mozilla and google chrome, all the browsers are configured with the same proxy,, siguro nga yung proxy dahilan kung bakit di pa kami muna naputolan, pero i will try muna na di bumayad sa samrt broken na yan para ma test ko kung sa proxy nga ba yung reason kung bakit di nawala connection ko,, tnx po clarissa,, you really ROCK!!

      Well kung okay ka na doon sa 99 pesos worth of service na yan, go lang! Haha. Pero kung may bond sa 99 pesos???! Natatawa lang ako. :P Well kung meron ka nang bagong ISP, tanggalin mo na 'yung proxy thing ng Smart para di ka maakusahan na nandadaya. Para wala kang liability, diba??? :P

        That's why I said na iclaim nila na wala na nga yung old subscriber doon. Like they transferred houses already and you're a new tenant in that property. They don't have the right to raid houses naman and see if the old owner's really there. And there's no such law here in our country permitting people to penalize for "other" people's debts by imposing huge fines. Kaya 'yan! Kevin talaga oh, faint-hearted. =)) Pero to Tom, don't do this more than once–yung tipong para makatakas lang sa bills ha! :)

          yah,, opo meron nun,, new expression,, lol:-) hehe,, well my mother was an ex-secretary of a attorney,, so maybe he can help my mom, to negotiate with smart to permanently disconect our conections ,, sana nga,, pero dun sa say mo na,, iclaim n wala na ung subscriber, paano po yun? wat if po kung magtatanong sila sa kapitbahay kung totoo ung sinasabi namin? tsaka po,, wala na po me kasama dito sa bahay na eligible for representing the household to disconect the internet,, it was just me (im 16 ,, hehe) with my mom(currently the registrd subscriber of the net conection) my cousin (1year old) my younger sister and my loLa..

          by the way? pwede po kaya si lola? :-)

            Pwede si Lola as long as she has an ID! :P You can surely find a legal way–that is to tell Smart that they don't deliver to your expectations as a subscriber so you deserve the right to terminate the subscription anytime you want it. This is always possible since you are the customer. But then again, this process is tedious. But if you can wait, you can always wait. But as someone who is always ordered by my parents to do this and that sa mga pinauupahan naming bahay, mamumuti mata mo sa kahihintay dude. Haha. Pwede si Lola as long as she has an ID naman. :)

            If you are friends with your neighbors, talk to them! Haha. If not, kahit na sabihin nilang kayo pa rin 'yung nasa bahay, wala silang magagawa. At saka they don't do that–character investigation. That is prohibited. Usually when CIs happen, the subject of the investigations have an idea na iimbestigahan sila. Hindi yung patago. Wala silang magagawa kundi iterminate kayo since di nyo na ginagamit yung connection eh.

            Sorry, my capabilities are up to value-judgment stuff lang eh! Ask Kevin about the proxy-proxy thing. As I've said, bobo ako dyan. :) Ask the lawyer your Mom worked for.     broadband in the philippines is no different than dial-up. the only difference is it’s wireless. but dial-up is still faster. even if your prvoider will say 2mbps, thats BS. they only alot 384 for you actually while they charge you 2MBps.

    imagine it takes 15 minutes to log-in to gmail (basic html view), another 2 minutes to access your first email message, then another 15 to forever minutes to access your second email. all in all, it’s cheaper to just go to an internet cafe and you can download all you want in less than 30minutes.

    KILL BROADBAND, KILL BIG INTERNET PROVIDERS. DSL is way much better but avail services of small companies. Big companies think they are God and that you have no choice. with DSL from small companies, i can download 400Mb file in 30-45 minutes.

    Putang inang SMART BRO yan,whoooo,,, grabing palpak ang bagal na ng net nawawalan pako ng net.tumawag ako gamit ang service reference ng account ng mother ko hindi maka connect ang sabi ng operator have some technical enhancement kaya di ako maka contact ,ginamit ko account ko paramakausap sila,tapos nagpa speed test ang sabi nila ok naman daw bilis,tang ina may ok ba na pag nag open ka ng mozzila 10 sec,bago mag open,,chrome 7 to 10 sec.at ang 4 minutes na u tube 20 to 30 minutes bago matapos.

    ito pa bumili ako ng wifi usb nakaconect ako sa kapit bahay ko using wifi,biruin u nagtest ako ng u tube, sakanila tapos na loading sakin wala pa 1/4.katwiran nila smart bro share it kasi gamit nila kaya daw nito mag accommodate ng hangang 5 pc oo cge pero gindi lang 5 yng nasa kanila 6pc plus yng akin,all in all is 7.samatalang yng net ko isa lang ako gumagamit pero usad pagong parin.tapos paulit ulit ako tumatawag almost 3 days na inaadjust na raw o kinakaibrate o iwan.mag4 days na hindi parin tapos mag adjust.

    tang ina talaga walang kwenta papautol knalang to pati account ko kasi may wifi na ako nasagap i dont need this fucking smart bro.

    buti pa globe pagnagrequest ako ng tech, pagsinabi nila na bukas darating talaga kng kailan nila sinabi.

    wala ba pwede agency na pwede lapitan sa ganitong problema smart bro is CERTIFIED SCAMER.
