In disbelief I have to share these words of a member of the De La Salle University.. The Ateneo de Manila Community might have showed off their excellence in terms of basketball, but their aftermath behavior suggests otherwise. Before I involve too many personal lines, let’s proceed with a email sent to one of our forum members.
Ateneans, we understand that you need to have fun and to quell your pain to have another championship party 
because your last championship was 6 years ago so we’re giving it to you. We’ve got no problem with that. Asides, there is always next year for all of the other teams to bounce back so go on, have your victory party. But please don’t take it too personal to a point that you will burn the names of our team’s players, management and staff. We don’t usually take it into offense that you refer to us in a playful way but if you are going to burn the names of the people who make up the De La Salle Green Archers, you might as well have the balls to burn our names.

see…this will never end! How exciting…and how nostalgic. Remembered those days when I walked around school, and hear things about (or against) Ateneo or La Salle. These ARE people from both schools I know…who haven’t been to the other school. Can you just imagine how many of what we think as “TRUE” judgements really are just hasty generalizations and conclusions?
I mean where else can one find a better cause of fights and rivalries, of corruption, of greed, of pride…the very same problems of this country beyond poverty?!
I work for GK, and we work with both Ateneo and La Salle students and staff. We even have them on builds AT THE SAME TIME! Ateneo and La Salle students during another event cheered each others’ cheers, and enjoying it big time! I did. I used to belong to the cheering squad too!!!
My point: don’t pick a fight if you don’t know 1.) how to fight and 2.) what/whom you’re fighting for. I mean…C’MON! I may not be that old to speaking like a sage here. But can you even say you have the guts to defend a school (and bash the other at the same time) when you don’t even know what is expected of a La Sallian or an Atenean? Puhlease. I was first amused by this thread. But now, the way each other makes their point makes me ask: SINO SINO BA ITONG IPINAGLALABAN ANG LA SALLE O ATENEO? I mean to be brutally frank: SINO BA KAYO?!
Hehe enough with that talk. I DIDN’T MEAN THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE, because I don’t intend to generalize. Like I said, I praise the good AND TRUE people in this thread. And to those who are not: you might say I might contradict myself for bashing you guys…but c’mon: 1.) I came from both schools…and 2.) GROW UP!!!

Do you know who you are…to even say that to someone like judith? Do you even know who you’re talking to? Basketball runs through your veins? Then again: What are you? No wonder. Only insecure people compare and brag about their accomplishments, their family, their background, and even their school (if they ARE from that school) AND BASH the other to dust. You said to judith that she can say all the sweetest things in favor of her school. And yes she did. And you did too. I won’t deny I even did. But to say THE Ateneo is better than DLSU. Have you been in the Ateneo long enough, if you are, to really say that THE Ateneo is better? You getting my drift here?! DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW TO COMPARE?! Sheesh…
OK…I rarely do this…but…I’m bored.
I dare those who think they can fight for their school, even those who think that the other school deserves to go to hell. We are fighting with words anyway, and 1. I KNOW WHY, and 2. I KNOW HOW. Now who’s willing to bash me now?

2. I can tell in an instant WHO knows really what they’re talking about, and believes what their school is really fighting for. And, of course, those who still needs to prove something else. some guys here can’t even take me on!!! Ad hominem galore. hehe. I may not know everything, but I DO KNOW MORE ABOUT ATENEO AND LA SALLE to 1. speak about them, and 2. not compare them in the first place.
Why do we even have to say that AdMU is better? and to even say that we as Atenean’s cannot in a million years say that DLSU is better? I was an Atenean and a La Sallian. Never came into my mind which one is better AS a school.
Sometimes, I’m too damn proud of being an Atenean and a La Sallian…but not to the point that I have to say that one is better. Can’t even say how.
This thread began to host opinions regarding the bonfire incident. What bothers my intellect is why it ended up being between Ateneo and La Salle as a school?! Surely, I had my fair share of not living up to the topic of this thread, but if it had gotten THIS far, to the point that senseless, and not-so-relevant issues are being brought up against each other, then I have to be saying something about it…because it concerns me as an Atenean and a La Sallian!
Others here got the point, and I applaud them: It is because of threads like this with such unnecessary (and inappropriate) comments against Ateneans and La Sallians that made the rivalry just mere trash talk and mere bashing. All Air and no Force, ika nga.
Some can’t even speak their hearts and minds too well. They just let their pride take over to claim for a better school. What a shame. IT IS PRIDE that brought Lucifer down the hell. It may not get you to hell just yet…but it can tell what kind of a life you live. And yes, it may be hellish.
If that’s acting as if I know everything, then that’s everything I KNOW about it. How about you? Do you know anything else to say and convince us (or persuade us) which school is better.? You have both La Sallians and Ateneans here to defend their piece, and you have a hybrid that may be as ticked as other La Sallians you’re trying to put down.
Still, nobody took me on. And I’m still talking. I’m just waiting.

I’m now quoting…hehe. There’s nothing wrong with saying AdMU is better than DLSU IF (READ: I.F.) it is qualified why the other is better. (READ: qualified NOT justified). I will agree that DLSU is better than AdMU IN THE FOLLOWING TERMS… (long list brad…no point in putting them all here for you. I don’t think you’ll even consider.)

Have you tried studying in schools beyond Ateneo and La Salle, which by the way I also did…pano na kung walang Ateneo. San ka pupulutin? You only have four years there. Make the most out of it…and again, it’s not only that it’s better…and that it won this year’s championship. If you really are, then look around you. “My God, is this what my life is all about?
Others work for something much more deeper than their pride about being a La Sallian or an Atenean.
Then some may ask: WHY WRITE IN THIS THREAD?
BECAUSE there are people who are so narrow or so shallow (feel free to choose) in terms of what they’re fighting for. Yeah…and since I am bored, might as well put my boredom here. I’m doing my fair share in real life to promote all what I’m saying in this thread. I am not perfect, and neither is La Salle nor Ateneo. But who else here can say more to convince the other…otherwise?

I might end up editing English scripts for a video game company in Japan and I’m asking for your prayers of whatever applicable form or religion. I’ll even give you credits when I get the job. This thread does give me good practice.

Hehhh… La Sallians have never emerged as champions in any national debate championships. We ateneans are consistently winning it.

Very entertaining thread indeed! Some do have good points to stress out but mostly are shallow and cheap. But I got fed up reading which school is better or which school ranked no.1. blah blah.

I would like to extend my deepest apology to you and to the La Sallian community for what some alumnus or student did at the Ateneo Bonfire, namely, write the names of the La Salle players on the wood. Unfortunately, none of us saw it ahead of time, because the wood pile was covered by a tarp against the rain until the time came to light it.
Despite our rivalries in sports, we are both committed to Christian values and what was done is certainly a violation of values we share.
Once again, my deepest apologies to you and to the La Sallian community. We are trying to find out who is responsible for the act.

What can you say about that? Ateneans labeling the woods with each La Sallian player? Is it hilarious, pathetic or what? or does this act always does happen between Ateneo and La Salle but didn’t have this kind of outrage by the media. BTW I saw this news at ABC5 or Channel 4
