A lot of people say that I’m too much into WordPress, and that I don’t want to understand the benefits that blogspot can bring. It’s true, that no matter what platform you use, it comes down to the user who decides which way to go and what suits him best (words by BatangYagit). But still, for me, there’s no reason to use Blogspot at all.why would I when I have my established WordPress Blog already? Else, if I would not have
money for a domain name, or even no money to get myself some hosting under the ass, there’s still no way that I’d choose blogspot. Although, yes, I’ve been using blogspot for 2 days on a dummy blog of mine now.
- Themes – Every tenth blog that I see is using the same theme, if not, then they are using the same “imported themes” from WordPress which is not quite easy to do. Now, you don’t call that techy? When Blogspot is supposed not to be that techy?
- One Feed for All – It really sucks when you need to display your whole feed to your readers, when you don’t really want to. Let’s say for example, you’ve got a R-18 Category on your blog and don’t like it to be exposed to your email subscribers because there might be minors on it. In WordPress, excluding a certain category from the feed is easy.
- All In One SEO is out of sight – One of the most popular plugins of WordPress is of course not available for Blogspot, which renders blogspot absolutely unfriendly in terms of Search Engine Optimization compared to WordPressBlogs with AIOSEO active.
- The WYSIWYG sucks – I know, the WordPress’ initial WYSIWYG doesn’t do much better either, but at least there is a plugin at hand to extend the WYSIWYG editor that WordPress has originally.
- Commenting is like hell – I know, it’s a anti-spam measurement, but it’s really not handy. It totally sucks when you need to enter those words before you can leave a comment. And not to forget the options given below if you’d like to leave a comment with Open ID, Name and URL and whatsoever.
- Commenting is like hell part II – I hate those crazy pop ups that slow down my computer when I comment on some blogs. Are these really needed?
- Limited Support – Compare the support they offer to the support that the ever so great WordPress Support Forums offer.
- Permalink Structure sucks – Now, do you really think that adding a .html at the end will make it more search engine friendly? I’d rather write better content than being concerned about that.
- My Post was gone – I wrote a long long post and it suddenly dissappeared, period.
- And last but not the least, I hate the reason why people use blogspot. I know, you can’t deny it. More than 20% of those who use Blogspot are using it only because they can add Javascript and add advertisements on it, which they can’tdo on WordPress. Poor people. Tsk, I don’t see the use why those started blogging, just to earn money? If those guys would only know that blogging is not about earning money, but about sharing your thoughts and ideas about whatever you have in mind, then you’d understand why even WordPress.Com is better than blogspot and how dominant WordPress.Org is in terms of online publishing.
So, there you have my reasons.

@Ms. Gorgeous – Livejournal? No Comment. Hehe. Diba it’s movable type? or was it typad?
Well, I have not much to say about your topic because I am a newbie. But as I see it, it doesn’t really matter what site are you in int this blogosphere, well for me. what’s matter most is your content and sense. A reader wouldn’t care about your site Echus.. haha. But I’m a newbie , not much sense.haha.tnx
bientots last blog post..Examination Week is tomorrow
@Lainy – Yeah… you have a point there lainy… would be a great topic to post…

No question about it. WordPress is way way better than Blogspot.

@phyLLz – Moving to WordPress add me to your ym: i.believe_11 maybe I can help you out with that
@bientot – Somehow it does matter what you use, because your the most SEO friendly blogging tool will become visible in the search engine, of course you need content too. But let’s say two sites with same great content, on different blogging tools. That’s where the competition really starts
well, i like blogspot a lot coz im not expert when it comes to PHP, FTP and more.
I just recently moved my some of my blogs to wordpress kasi of some matter. kaya ito ako ngaun, nangangapa, d lam kung saan mg sstart ng mga new codes.
I already install the wordpress but i still have to read some of the step by step how to figure things out.
Nakaka-drain ng utak kung d ka matalino like others. I’m not super smart to easily know things lalo na sa coding.
Nasanay kasi sa HTML. Super easy.
I admit wordpress is way more cooler when it comes to building a nice themes, super dami akong nakikitang WP themes not like blogspot na d masyado. Pero nakakapag customize ako ng template sa blogspot and I enjoy it.
Siguro kung marunong na ako in wordpress. Magugustuhan ko rin.
About monetiizing, d mo naman maiiwasan sa mga bloggers yun, why not making money while enjoying the essense of blogging at the same time. I find it fun, lalo na pag approved ang mga reviews ko. Kahit konti I can see that I can earn money in the web world. Nakakatuwa!!! Lalo na ngaun, halos lahat ng tao need ng extra income because of the crisis crunch. You need to think any way to earn money kahit sa blogging man lang kahit konti lng.
I ENJOY YOUR POST KEV, maraming ngresponse sa post, readable lahat ng post mo, galing mo tlga!

to: Admin – If You want to delete your site from my spam list, please sent url of your domain to my emai: stop.web.spam@gmail.com
And I will remove your site from my base within 24 hours
webmastegz
PS. As the previous address of an e-mail has been removed also all letters on it have been lost I is compelled to make this dispatch once again.
PS2. To send url your site on an e-mail stop.web.spam@gmail.com is a unique way to avoid a spam from me. To write abuses to the various “stop spam” sites – it is useless.
PS3. Your addresses of an e-mail are not necessary to me, you can create an e-mail through free service and send me yours url through this e-mail
PS4. sorry for my bad English
_graveh ang dami mong readers,,,,
_galing m talaga_
_kept it up….. eje
You really have good reasons to hate blogspot, but point number 10 seems to be self-contradicting. Who cares on what blogging platform you’re using if your main objective is just to share your thoughts and ideas???
Someone named unknown-nymous gave me this link because he/she wanted to read my opinion about this DAW. So, let’s see what I can come up with. Assuming its not from any of the administrators.
I’ve used Blogspot for my first 8 months in blogging, and it has never failed me on what I visioned it to look like prior to its actual establishment. Thanks to its very easy user-interface that has a WYSIWYG concept.
Today on my own domain, I’m currently using WordPress. Comment? so-so.
If I’m not mistaken, someone told me that Blogspot blogs are more Google search engine friendly because Blogspot afterall, is a subsidiary of Google, right?
For the number 9, are you pretty sure about that. I never lost a single draft from Blogspot. Kasi, they have this autosave feature which automatically saves your draft every minute.
As for the issue of earnings, Kev, don’t deny the fact that earning money thru blogging is ALSO a REASON why PinoyTeens has undergone several domain name changes. Just because PT was banned from Google allegedly caused by fraudulent clicks, you transferred from BuhayKabataan.Com to TeenPH.Com and now back to PinoyTeens. And if I’m not mistaken, you told me via YM that you are so happyyy that Adsense is finally back on PT.
In addition, you haven’t had any experience using Blogspot yet. Right? Oh well, you had one. But that wasn’t really used diba? I mean, INTESIVELY USED. Because if you do, you might have loved it as well. Remember what kuya Lyle told you during the MB Party.
Note: Dont take this comment of mine against me ha? Basig maninuod ka? *peace*
Another note: This is my response to someone who told me to comment on this post. Haba noh? Nadala ako eh.
title must be change to 10 nagging of wordpress fanboy.
really nice post. I do not hate it because of its system, but I hate many of its users so much. A lot of illegal things Blogspot staff should removed, but they dont.
nice posting……..
but i use joomla Lol
This is a very interesting compare & contrast between Blogger's blog tools versus WordPress features. Personally, I look at the blogspot domain as an easy, free, casual way to build up backlinks to your main sites. Blogger's features are easy to use, but far from the professional look & feel. WordPress delivers in all aspects when it comes to the needs of a true publisher. They both have the options of advert placement, but if I'd have to choose one to stay with for multi-purpose needs, I'd select WordPress, hands down……
