If in case you have your dashboard widgets customized and have the WordPress News removed from it, let me remind you once again, that you need to update to WordPress 2.6.2 as soon as possible! Your blog might be under great security risk and danger. WordPress 2.6.2 is a mandatory update for everyone. Especially for those who run blogs open for registration. Besides this very vital update, WordPress 2.6.2 also comes with a handfull of bug fixes which everyone would like to get rid of, some of them are kinda minimal, but still, it won’t hurt you that much if you would upgrade.

WordPress 2.7 will come out a little later than expected (I read it somewhere but just can’t recall where), so all guys who are anticipating all the new features out there, just stay tuned and ready for the 2.7 month around late November or even later.

If in case you don’t know how to upgrade your WordPress installation, here’s how you can do that:

1. Open your filemanager and go to the Root Directory of your WordPress installation
2. Upload and unzip the wordpress.2.6.2 package
3. Enter the wordpress directory
4. Delete wp-content inside the wordpress directory
5. Select All
6. Copy/Move all those stuff to your WordPress Installation Root
7. Done
