Pinoy Teens Features Dayaw Tagum

DAYAW is a yearly Indigenous Peoples Festival in the Philippines that is celebrated every October, the Indigenous Peoples month. The festivity which is paticipated by various ethno-linguistic groups in the Philippines is in pursuant to Presidential Proclaimation No. 1906 that is initiated and led by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) under its Subcommission on Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts (SCCTA) and the Ugnayang Pang-Agham Tao, Inc. (UGAT) in cooperation with agencies and local governments.

About Tagum

Since its founding as a City thirteen years ago, many brands had been connected to Tagum. For one, it is the premiere Palm City of the Philippines, The Music Capital of Mindanao, the City of Parks and the Home of Festivals. its annual Musikahan sa Tagum Festival gathers the best musical artist and enthusiast from the different parts of the country to celebrate the world’s universal language: Music.

Last February 2011, the City successfully hosted the Cuerdas sa Pagkakaissa: the Third International Rondalla festival which convened the best and the brightest plucked string instrument players from many countries across the globe. Eight months after, The City Government of Tagum and the City of Tagum Tourism Council grabbed the opportunity to host the Dayaw: Indigenous Peoples Festival 2011. This move implanted the City as one of the rising cultural hubs in the Philippines.

Though at the course of rapid development and modernization, the city makes sure that its cultural fibers are in place — a thread that connects the past and the future generations. in its soil flourishes a unique culture by its indigenous peoples.

The City Government of Tagum under the leadership of Mayor rey T. Uy and the City Tourism Council of tagum headed by Mrs. Alma L. Uy had implanted the city as one of the favorite hosting sites for cultural enhancement activities. Indeed the city is the city to watch out for.

No wonder why this is so because the city respects cultural diversity and sees it as a conduit for progress.
