Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, aged 46 was found dead in his New York apartment last February 2, 2014. It is said that Philip Seymour Hoffman had an overdose of the drug heroin.
Philip Seymour Hoffman, who has recently starred in the Hunger Games’s trilogy second movie, Catching Fire and was only about 7 more days away from finishing both the first part and the second part of the Hunger Games 3rd book – to – movie adventure.
Lionsgate, however, ensured the fans of the Hunger Games saga that despite the huge loss in Philip Seymour Hoffman who was found dead in his apartment in New York, the Hunger Games movies slated for later this year and November 20 next year.

So, what does Hoffman’s sad passing mean for the future of the much-anticipated Mockingjay movies?
Split into two parts, the first is set for release on 21 November this year, with Part 2 scheduled a year later, on 20 November 2015.
Filming began in September 2013, with both films being filmed back-to-back, other than a brief break to promote Catching Fire.
Shooting has been taking place in Atlanta, Georgia, however IMDB has Mockingjay: Part 1 listed as being in post-production, with Part 2 currently filming.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Hoffman had completed his work for Part 1, and had only seven days remaining to shoot on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part 2.
The industry website also claim that as a result, the actor’s death will not affect the release dates of either film.
Lionsgate said in a statement: “Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We’re very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family.
“Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip’s family.”
