The Manila Major Regional Qualifiers have concluded. On top of the 12 teams that have been directly invited are 4 teams that have managed to secure a slot at the Manila Major or also known as the Spring Major this coming June.
The four teams that managed to make it to the Manila Majors via the Regional Qualifiers are Digital Chaos, Team Empire, Mineski and Newbee.
Unlike ESL One Manila, we’ll get to see the current The International titleholders Evil Geniuses live in action, along with fan favorite Dendi and his Natus Vincere squad. Favorites to win the tournament are Team Secret, Evil Geniuses, MvP Phoenix and as well as Wings Gaming, given their stellar run at ESL One Manila.
Of course, this is not to discredit the current rise of Natus Vincere and the rebirth of Alliance. It’s just that they are not the favorites in the current 6.87 patch. Also notably left out from our favorites list is OG. While still a very consistent team, recent results have been not quite as impressive as their Frankfurt Major performance late last year.
Once again, representing the home nation and the South East Asian region from the regional qualifiers is Mineski. Mineski will have to exert more effort this time for a better shot at the trophy or at the very least, a better placement in the ranking. Their impressive run in the qualifiers will have significantly boosted their confidence. Hopefully, the home crowd will add to their confidence and help carry them to victory.
