Thanks to my boyfriend, I have long been exposed to the world of blogging and have had a more in-depth perspective when it comes to social media and the role it may play in our society. From being a catalyst of change, the driving force behind President Duterte’s eventual charge to presidency, to being a platform to disseminate important information and details in times of calamity and need, social media has always played an important role. Yes, social media. Not just blog sites, but the people sitting behind their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram profiles as well.
It is safe to say that blogging is past its highest potential. It is safe to assume that people who started hiding behind their blogs are slowly coming out and embrace the fact that blogging alone won’t sustain their readership, if not for their continuous engagement on the various social media platforms at hand.
Hence, I’m very excited to join the Davao Digital Influencers, or the #DDIBarkada as this will be my very first concrete step into the online world of social media and online content writing. As I said, I have been exposed to blogging for quite a bit, but it’s just now, with the launch of this new group, that I have finally taken the courage to embark on the journey of taking full responsibility for a website – especially a website that’s so dear to my boyfriend, pinoyteens.net.
The local community back then seemed exclusive, elitist and rather selective in nature. And as such, I’ve always felt pressured and intimidated when he encouraged me to join in. Now that the Davao Digital Influencers are about to take flight, it is great to be part of this fun group wherein at its very core, there exist harmony, camaraderie and respect for one another. That’s just the fun part, however. There’s also a whole new level of professionalism that can be seen. People are zooming out and looking at the greater picture. No, it’s not just a mere blogging society, it is a group that focuses on how each individual can give back to the community by being a digital influencer, hence Davao Digital Influencer, right?
As I said and reiterated over and over again. I’m glad to be one of the pioneers, to be home. Exciting times await me and the whole local social media community as the #DDIBarkada opens its doors and spreads its wings for the first time.
We’re not just here for our blogs. We’re not just here for our Social Media Accounts. We’re here to provide quality content, information and be influencers for the greater good of all.
