The Manila Major Group Stage has concluded. Teams attending the Manila Major had to battle it out over the course of 2 days to decide their fate whether they’d start in the Upper Bracket or Lower Bracket come the start of the Main Event this June 7, 2016. We’ve had a handful of surprises, while some other results were pretty much the same. Let’s have a quick recap on what has happened over the course of the last couple of days at the Manila Major 2016 DotA 2 tournament.

Group A

Newbee managed to sweep Group A with 2 clean 2-0 wins, the first over compLexity and the second over n0tail’s OG. Following Newbee into the Upper Bracket from the group is OG who were victorious over twice, beating them in the opening match and the Lower Bracket final 2-0 and 2-1, respectively. This means that both Team Empire and compLexity have been sent to the Lower Bracket.

Group B

Natus Vincere has had a stellar run so far at the Manila Major. Na’Vi, one of the crowd favorites edged out Puppey’s Team Secret 2-0 followed with a crushing victory over Digital Chaos 2-0, sweeping their group. Team Secret, despite their disappointing opening against Dendi’s squad were unable to recover, falling short yet again 2-1 against Wings Gaming. Team Secret will start from the Lower Bracket. Digital Chaos, after tasting defeat against the dominant Natus Vincere managed to secure a Upper Bracket seed by defeating Wings Gaming 2-0, sending the latter to the Lower Bracket as well.

Group C

Another title contender, Team Liquid has proven once more why they deserve to be ranked way up there. Having faced adversity twice, Team Liquid was able to edge out Alliance and Fnatic with 2-1 wins for the first seed of their group. Fnatic will follow suit after defeating VG.Reborn 2-0 and knocking out Alliance 2-1 with a notable game 3 performance where Alliance was held back to just one kill, despite Bulldog playing his signature Nature’s Prophet. This leaves VG.Reborn and Alliance heading to the Lower Bracket for the Main Event.

Group D

Another favorite to the crown of Manila Major 2016, Evil Geniuses has joined Team Secret with abysmal performances. EG may have defeated the home team, Mineski 2-1, but failed to ride on the momentum, losing 2-1 to LGD and getting swept 2-0 by MVP Phoenix. Mineski and Evil Geniuses start from the Lower Bracket, while LGD and MVP Phoenix are secured of a Upper Bracket berth.

Pinoy Teens’ Opinion

Only Newbee and Natus Vincere managed to sweep their group. However, Team Liquid should not be counted out after their 2 2-1 matches. Team Philippines, Mineski has been more successful thus far, beating 1 opponent more than Team Secret.
