Stay away from 3ix.org

This is a important notice that everyone should stay away from 3ix.org which a huge pain to the ass of many bloggers, and a new victim has been a fellow Filipino Blogger of ours. Their prices are cheap, and you get what you pay for, crap. There’s nothing good about their service and the hosting service itself.

Not a even a single wordpress installation nor a punbb could withstand  that hosting, even if picking the most expensive hosting that they offer, your site will, and will be shutdown after time. This time, the reason was high server over load, what a corny reason to keep a website down for 3 consecutive days and longer? Based on my experience with the webhost that we are currently using, the staff is so kind to inform me what is causing the high server overload and tell me how to get rid of the high sever overload which may be caused by cron-jobs and a couple of WordPress plugins. (since we are talking mostly about WordPress here).

But that’s not yet the end of the story, did you also know that 3ix.org is partly scamming people now too? I guess you don’t know, and this live chat log posted by the victim can verify it:

How more mean could they be? Obviously, she (correct me if I’m wrong, I’m referring to the victims site owner) has been tricked by the Sales Man she has spoken to, that instead of applying for a new account, she should grab the upgrader, which will lead to the conclusion that the account is verified not to be of new purchase, but a upgraded account, meaning that the said account payment will not be refunded.

What the heck is that? They are wise, but is that hosting company wise enough to escape all the disputes and complaints that more and more people are publishing online? I don’t think so. And, I’d be likely someone who wants to help in getting that site nailed from snatching money from other people.

Why did I say snatching money? Let’s view the situation from this angle. User subscribes, upgrades = a year of weary load for the host. So, they just shut you down for the reason that you over load the server. I wonder how many websites are hosted by them, to not be able to host a simple wordpress blog, I could understand this case if the blog would have millions of unique views per day, but that’s not applicable right now. Nah nah nah.

So guys, everybody,

DON’T GET HOSTING FROM THESE PEOPLE!

    Thank you for posting my story. I hope many will learn from my experience not to trust cheap webhosting providers because if they are too good to be true, then they probably are.

    Sorry to hear that. You might want to consider a more expensive but more reliable web hosting provider. Don’t waste your time and money to these “cheap” hostings.

    You should write a post describing your displeasure with computinghost. Then at least other Filipino bloggers could be warned.

    I have been with 3ix for a few years, happy with them, there can be problems, but that is the same as any hosting company, I have found 3ix work hard to resolve issues, it’s just not true that 3ix is a scam they have more than 50,000 clients, sure I see a few complaints online, but the majority of their clients will be happy with their price and service.

    i had over 10 sites with 3ix…bloody useless….their server crashes every second day, their chat people are bloody rude as hell they should not be in hosting, as they know nothing about hosting….bloody useless

    I thought I would get an uber-cheap host while developing the beginnings of a game development company.

    Unfortunately, my research led me to 3ix. In the months since beginning my account in May, I have had the pleasure of dealing with the following frustrating problems:

    • Invoking traffurl.ru before page loading, which caused a delay on any page loaded. Solution: Support “did something”, and it worked.
    • MySQL database wipe, and support’s inability to restore from a backup. Solution: I had to redo part of my website. I implemented my own custom backup system “just in case” it happened again.
    • Inability to send email to my Mailman mailing list. Solution: Tech support “did something” and it worked.
    • Inability to send email with a mail client configured on standard SMTP port 25. Solution: Support suggested I reconfigure the mail client to use port 26. Still fighting on this one.

    All I can say is, you get what you pay for. I will not renew my account with 3ix, and I am in the process of finding a new host.

    3ix are not inexpensive. They are cheap. There is a massive difference.

    If you want to have a domain that keeps going offline, that gets hacked with malicious scripts which try to install trojans on your users machines whilst all the time "enjoying" abusive and throughly poor technical support use 3ix.

    3ix are cheap for a reason. Using them was my worst hosting experience ever.
