The Anti Planking Act of 2011 is a hot issue on Twitter (Philippines) right now. We believe that filing such act is a waste of time and money. Not to forget that there are more serious issues to deal with.

On first thought, I was like, what the f*ck is going on here? An Anti-Planking Act (of 2011) filed in congress by some Winnie Castelo who is a Philosophy graduate from the University of the Philippines? That’s insane. I mean, is filing an anti-planking act really a need of our society at the moment? I mean like, seriously?!

On second thought, we must also realize how extreme and serious some people take planking. Planking in the middle of the street is just as insane as this useless Anti-Planking Act of 2011 that Mr. Castelo wants to push through.

Tweeps  on Planking Issue: Issuing an Anti Planking Act is a waste of time. Focus on budget cut or more serious issues, please.

Filipinos across Facebook and Twitter alike are disgusted by this move, for one because it makes no sense at all, and secondly there are more serious issues that our politicians should be concerned about. Like Harry Santos noted in his post, there’s need for a specific anti-planking act. Since it’s already against the law to dance, stand, lie down or say, plank in the middle of the street.

Anti-Planking Act of 2011? Stupid.

No doubt. That’s all I can say about it. It’s just plain dead stupid, a waste of time and a waste of us, the taxpaying citizens’ money. I bet the rest of the world is laughing at us right now having politicians this immature and naive.

Here are some more thoughts from Twitter:

@teachmeDANIEL said: “Anti-Planking Act of 2011?! Two days ng Trending! Bakit yan ang pinagtutuulan nila ng pansin.Dapat Budget Cut ang pinagtutuunan nila!”

@hannah_gurl said: “Anti-Planking Act of 2011 is absurd!!!! c’mon there are many problems in the Phil. that are worth passing a bill”

There are dozens, no hundreds, well, even thousands of tweets that oppose the Anti Planking Bill. Reminding our politicians that there are way more serious issues that should be covered by our lawmakers. It seems to me that even these Tweeps would be better politicians than those who waste time filing laws for whatever they see improper or dislike. Are these really the kind of people we want to give power to?
