Floyd Mayweather Jr will face Canelo Alvarez this coming September 15, 2013 in the boxing ring. It is touted to be one of boxing’s “last fights”. As the inevitable meme of boxing is dying starts trending again with the fight closing in.
All those who had hoped to witness Mayweather fight Manny Pacquiao, in what would have been titled ‘then’, the “mega-fight” of the decade is all but dust. Pacquiao has lost two consecutive fights. It’s unlikely that we’ll ever see the kind of Manny Pacquiao again that we witnessed during the 2-round demolition of Ricky Hatton. That’s how the Mayweather vs Alvarez fight is hyped as the mega-fight in this age of boxing.
Of course, that’s not the lone reason why. Floyd Mayweather Jr remains to be undefeated, while Canelo Alvarez, Floyd’s opponent in the boxing ring has quite a huge following gathered together, with analysts ever so slightly favoring Alvarez to hand Mayweather his first loss in his outstanding boxing career.
