WritePress has kept us very busy
Or should I say has kept me very busy? I have been trying to setup my very first WordPress MU install along with Buddy Press that has recently released a stable version 1. My host was kind enough to allow me host such a network on my hosting environment and has even helped me out throughout the installation with the required server configuration. It has been a breeze until I was given the login details from my host which signifies that from that moment on, all the responsibility for the installation is all mine, and will be loaded unto my shoulders.
My other writers here were not of much help, though Princess was able to setup her very first and very own blog already. I’m still expecting a few other close friends to do the same. What is worrying me about Buddy Press and WordPress MU is the damage it could do to the server, not directly but in the long run when the user count hopefully sets into bigger and brighter numbers than the present three of which 1 of them was the test account of my host which leaves only 2 valid registered members on it.
What is WritePress?
If you know WordPress.Com, then you must also know what WritePress.Org is, they almost the same familiar thing, only that WritePress is spiced up with a little social kick with the power of Budy Press. Write Press aims to enable its users to blog and communicate with other blogs in the community in a social networking manner, by means of enabling users to create and join groups, discuss and talk on forums[1. Forums are not working, I'm too lazy to get BBpress done.], and leave feedback on each others profile just like on Friendster and Facebook. But that doesn’t ends there. There’ll be more and more features that I’ll be adding to the community along the way but for now, let me leave the blabbering about the new website and project of mine to these few words.
Once you are part of our community, you can create your own groups, fill out all the information on your profile, and look for friends. It would be really kind from you if you could invite your own friends to be part of our small community there. And lastly, what really completes the “essence” of the new website is, that you can blog, blog carelessly about hosting bills and other geeky stuff, and above all, blog for free!
