NU Bulldogs upset La Salle faithfuls
September 10, 2009
UAAP 72 second round of elimination heads to the last four games. The National University upset the De La Salle Green Archers with a 63-61 edge to literally kick out La Salle’s shot at a final four spot. The Bulldogs headed by Kokoy Hermosisima did it again, the job they’ve been popularly known for, spoiling other teams, just like they’ve beaten the Blue Eagles 2 seasons back.

La Salle loses to UP
August 22, 2009
The De La Salle University drew the shorter stick once again, and that for the fourth time in a row. It was pretty embarrassing already on the end of the Green Archers head-coach to open the season with a 5-year-low output in terms of points, even more of a blow was the two game loosing streak that they have entered this years season. The Champions of 2007 eventually fought back with a 4-0 win/loss ratio in their third to sixth outing. Only to fall prey to arch nemesis Ateneo de Manila in the first round closing match at the big dome in a very tense game.
The misery of the Green Archers didn’t end with a single loss to their arch nemesis but was followed by the beating of the Adamson University on the following match day. But eventually completing the first ever 3-game-loosing journey of the Green Archers under the rule of their 11th year head coach Franz Pumaren was executed by their rivals Ateneo last week Sunday -which was arguably Ateneo’s best output this year-, the game wasn’t even close, unlike the first outing these two have met and brought each other to the limit in a overtime match up where Ateneo had the upper hand.
While Ateneo has struggled against the fighting Maroons in the first round, it was time for De La Salle to have a taste to be upset by the University of the Philippines. The Fighting Maroons spearheaded by a career game of Mikee Reyes have let La Salle take some of their own medicine -full court press- to depart from the Archers in the early goings by a 8-2 run. The La Salle 5 held on tight to the game and clinched the lead somewhere in the second half but the execution was just not good enough to help them hold on to the quick advantage that they have had. It was mostly UP who led the match, from start until the finish.
Though, UP was lucky at times at the unreasonable and careless turn-overs that La Salle has committed but nevertheless, the University of Philippines Fighting Maroons deserved this victory and so did the best player of the game Mikee Reyes deserved his piece of honor.
It doesn’t only mark a simple upset loss for the Green Archers, but also a 4-game-loosing streak with a potential fifth coming up in their next assignment against the University of the East Red Warriors this August 29 in San Juan.

UAAP Season 72 July 11 2009 Game Schedule
July 9, 2009
After monotonous weeks, months without the College Basketball Hype flashing on National Television, the most awaited, the most anticipated Collegiate Basketball Championship is back! The UAAP Season 72! With Ateneo de Manila University as the current title holders, the Blues uphold high expectations from their followers and truly carry more load than any other team right now especially with the absence of King Eagle Chris Tiu who has already graduated from the University.
Right after the four game sweep over Arch Rivals de La Salle (2 in the eliminations and 2 in the finals) the blues got demolished by the Green Archers during the follow up post season contest where they trailed by some number. Ateneo this year, also looks to have the most hectic season start with three though games following back to back against big names like the UST Growling Tigers, UE Red Warriors and the opening clash against the FEU Tamaraws. Whilst the Ateneo de Manila vs de La Salle clash is schedule as the last game of both rounds of the elimination. To leave you with a complete schedule refer to the table below to have the UAAP Game Schedule of the UAAP Season 72 that will be kicking off this Saturday Weekend, July 11, 2009.
AdMU Bonfire, burning La Salle Player names
October 4, 2008
In disbelief I have to share these words of a member of the De La Salle University.. The Ateneo de Manila Community might have showed off their excellence in terms of basketball, but their aftermath behavior suggests otherwise. Before I involve too many personal lines, let’s proceed with a email sent to one of our forum members.
Ateneans, we understand that you need to have fun and to quell your pain to have another championship party
because your last championship was 6 years ago so we’re giving it to you. We’ve got no problem with that. Asides, there is always next year for all of the other teams to bounce back so go on, have your victory party. But please don’t take it too personal to a point that you will burn the names of our team’s players, management and staff. We don’t usually take it into offense that you refer to us in a playful way but if you are going to burn the names of the people who make up the De La Salle Green Archers, you might as well have the balls to burn our names.

Ateneo de Manila wipes De La Salle
September 10, 2008
Despite the fact that the pressure is all over the De La Salle University Green Archers, the Blue Eagles still took their final tasks in the eliminations against the Archers, as a victory. As always, once these arch rivals from old and present meet, we can expect a very tight and close game which usually showcases both sides bests.
De La Salle Green Archers came close to up to 3 points in the third quarter, but then the Eagles took off with a 12 to nothing run in the last 3 minutes of the said quarter. Giving them a lead of 50-35. Jai Reyes, Ryan Buenafe, Nonoy Baclao, simply everyone from the Jesuits contributed to achieve a 65-57 victory over their rivals. Thus, hopefully boosting their confidence for their future meet up against the Red Warriors.
Final Four Round Up
September 8, 2008
Since the University of the East Red Warriors success against the Tamaraws and the Growling Tigers. A lot of Atenean across the Archipelago feared that Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagle’s success would come to an end against them, in the semis. Good that the Blue Eagles were able to beat their fierce Arch Rivals, the Green Archers with a quite convincing score line.
It must have been a though fight still, but well, the pressure was off the Jesuits of Katipunan. Since the victory of UE over UST, the final four has been sealed. With Ateneo ahead of everybody, and UE taking the last and final spot. While FEU and DLSU still meet this Thursday for the 2nd place, thus the last twice to beat.
Who will get the twice to beat? La Salle or FEU?
Fight for the twice to beat part I
September 3, 2008
The UE Red Warriors have secured the last and final slot for the UAAP Season 71 Mens Basketball Final 4 by beating a very competitive UST Growling Tigers last Sunday. Although, they had that 24 point lead ahead of the Tigers, they’ve been able to run up to the last 2 points.
A costly mistake by Clark Bautista has thrown the game away, and the final shot missed by Allera sealed their destiny. The Season of the 2006 UAAP Season ended, with only 5 wins and not qualifying for the final four, ending on the rear 5th spot.
The Red Warriors might not feel the pressure anymore, and it seems to be just a little giveaway game. But I bet that the University of the East won’t give the Tamaraws an easy day tomorrow. The FEU Tamaraws are still up for the twice to beat advantage, so are the Green Archers. A loss here might change their faith, but well, the Green Archers do have a hard time against the Blue Eagles on Saturday.
Who among the Tamaraws and the Archers will get that final twice to beat advantage?
DLSU keeps twice to beat probability alive!

It wasn’t an afternoon most likely everyone has thought it to be. Defending champions De La Salle Green Archers had a quite though time against the Adamson Soaring Falcons who where off pressure right on the cellar of the elimination. Both offensive, and defensive, the Soaring Falcons tried to keep up with the Green Archers, who where able to extend the game to over time.
Somewhere during over time, the Defending Champions led by 3 points as a Falcon answered back with a triple treat from down town, while LA Revilla replied with an equal shot.
