Sonnet Dos

Sonnet II

And there is the night sky,
with the moon bright shining..
And there do dreams fly,
as I am right here dreaming…
Beyond the darkness of this hour,
beyond the sky so dark and blue..
There’s just too much to live for,
all I own and want and you…
Sweet dreams are on my mind,
all the hopes that I now have..
Tomorrow when the sun will shine,
and there goes all the love…
Everything that seemed so hopeless,
all these things that seem so useless…

  5. Louie says:

that is so cool, but arent sonnets suppose to have 10 syllables each line?

    • Louis says:

The only universal requirement in sonnets is that they should have 14 lines. This rule is not always observed though; Robert Frost is notorious for writing 15-line sonnets. Syllabic meters are rare (I think) in the English language, rhymes and stress meters are more necessary. An example of a language that extensively uses syllabic meters is Tagalog.
