Multiply – Social Network

In the recent weeks, Multiply has gained popularity here in the Philippines, but also gained much reputation from the world at large. But, let’s talk about the Multiply here inside the Philippines.

The Social Network Multiply was first introduced to us by Abc-Cbn, along with the Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus reality show which rocked the Philippines (and Pinoy Teens) and yes, Multiply too. Abs-Cbn introduced a Multiply Group they have created for PBBTEP for the followers of the show and the fans of the housemates to make use of and stay up-to-date with what is going on inside the house and their respective favorites.

For a couple of those who joined Multiply that time, it was merely just to get updated about Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus, while others really came to like it, and dumped other Social Networks for their new found love, I could even come to mention a couple of people who dumped friendster for it! And you could be the next one, too.

The Social Network I’m speaking about is very feature rich, with features far advanced that Friendster who has just launched their new blogging system with the Open Source Blogging Tool, WordPress. In Multiply, you are granted lots of space for your uploads, like Music and Videos. Every user is given a sub-domain of choice (if it’s still available) which they use to repsrent their Multiply Site, or which other people call Profiles.

On those Profiles, you can stick as much information about and your likes that you wish. You can add HTML blocks, your blog, a Guestbook, some of your contacts, pictures and even more, just depending on what you wish others to see.

Now? That was quite a blow, wasn’t it? But that’s way not all. You can join groups that are related to your interest, or start a group of your own and start gathering your members for discussion. And when we speak about discussion, discussion is made-easy in Multiply and way more comfortable. If you came to notice on Friendster, it often happens that you need to refresh a page before you see a new comment, even if you clicked on your Profile URL many times, the solution is only a strong F5 or CTRL+R (refresh ba!).

This is not the case in Multiply. Comments left on a particular blog post that you made or in a thread of your groups, or even in your Guestbook or those of your friends will be seen immediately without any refresh needed, hey, without even needing to load the page! If that’s not convinient yet, then I don’t know what you want!

A bonus feature that we would like to emphasize is the ability for the users to add blog articles to their blogs from a specific email address. All you need to do is send an email to the given email address and a article will show up on your blog with the given content of the email that you send. Pretty convinient if you’re too lazy to visit Multiply yourself and update it? Huh?
