the first two years of college life really sucks – as in to the fullest meaning of the term suck. there are also times that i ask myself why am i in the IT field? what made me choose this? others tell me that i should have taken up a degree in mass com, journalism or education. but, i chose IT notwithstanding these things that still bothers me (esp. math!)

comes the 3rd and 4th yr, i am sure you’ll be able to savor the world of IT… these years are promising. there would be lesser (and less harder) math course subjects.

IT is a very challenging field for its pace is so fast. as i can see, you could be a well-versed IT journalist someday. just continue and you’ll see… (‘:

Take some time to love your course. It’s pretty early to decide whether to shift or not to shift. You’re still a freshman, and there’s a lot of time to decide whether you fit in Info Tech or not.

I was supposed to take up Computer Science, but instead I took up Communication Arts. I also thought that maybe I should shift, or better yet, transfer to the university where almost all of my closest friends are studying. But I didn’t. I gave Communication Arts a try, and so far I’m loving this course (I’m in my 2nd Year already).

I think you just need to adjust on the sudden change, and maybe you’ll learn to truly love Info Tech. If not, then you can always shift. At least, mostly majors nalang ang kukunin mo dahil siguro macrcredit na ung minors.

My point is, its way too early to shift. Try to get a feel with your course. The school year has just started, it has its ups and downs. Just give it some time.

Try thinking about what you really want in your life. Don’t talk about your wisdom, because wisdom itself is too vague.

I don’t think you should take up Journalism. But it’s up to you. If you like it, then why not. If that’s your passion, why not again? If you could do better in writing, why not? If you could talk to the public properly and in straight English, the why not?

Think about what you really like doing. Find the course that relates to that thing you like. If you failed to, you might end up in nothing and unsatisfied, then change course again or you’ll just force yourself into it.

About the Information Technology in Ateneo, they doesn’t teach you more about blogging, SEO and etc. It’s more about Systems Development, Network Administration, and etc. What you want to know may not be delivered to you. They’ll just introduce you how to do it, do that and do those things but they won’t spoon feed you. You will learn it by yourself. Mathematics is really part of it, but it will just be on your first 2 years, then no more math subjects.

Take your time. Decide well.
