My Macbook Pro arrived in Davao City and got its first boot up on the 26th of December. I started looking for solutions to the heat problem that I had in my Mac installation itself and smcFan Control seems to be just the right tool to help me out when my Laptop starts to heat up. Without using it, my temperatures usually average around 48-55 and sometimes peak around low 60 Celsius. But with smcFan Control (I only use it when I’m plugged in) get cool and comfortable 38-45 Celsius. It’s definitely a tool that you want to download if these “actually not so high temperatures” is a issue to you.

I was able to install Windows XP on my Macbook Pro via Bootcamp and had no problems there. The problems started when I noted that the Macbook Pro heated up even when idle, something familiar was missing, the noise of the fans. The fans were absolutely shut and started to kick in at around 68 Celsius which is too uncomfortable for me (and most) already. I wondered, “how much more if I’d be gaming?”

1. Download smcFan Control
2. Boot to OS X, set your fan control to 4000rpm or higher as you desier
3. Restart immediately to Bootcamp

And you should be safe with temperatures around the mid-high 60 Celsius when game or doing something more graphic intensive.

The Pound-For-Pound King is set to file libel charges against Floyd Mayweather Sr., Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Golden Boy Productions (the Mayweathers’ promoter).

Manny Pacquaio, who first shrugged off the accusations of the Mayweathers pertaining to him, using performance-enhancing drugs such as steroids stated that the Mayweathers are already going overboard with their words.  During the early parts of this issue, PacMan merely perceived the Mayweathers’ accusations as a simple ploy to distract him in their supposed upcoming fight.  The Mayweathers’ skepticism even extended to requiring PacMan and Mayweather Jr. to undergo an Olympic-style kind of blood testing 48 hours before the game.  PacMan’s refusal to undergo the latter resulted to a dispute between the two parties and ended up with the fight being derailed.  The number one contention of PacMan’s party with regards to his refusal to undergo such test is that it will be very detrimental for PacMan’s A-game condition if he would allow extraction of blood 48 hours before the game.  PacMan also stated that even if Mayweather will also undergo such blood testing, he would have optimum advantage because he is of larger size than Pacquaio who is squeamish of needles at the same time.  PacMan sees the mere fact of blood extraction 48 hours before the game as a big tool for him to be less of a performer given his size.  However, PacMan presented a compromise in the form of having the same Olympic-style test RIGHT AFTER the game to prove that he has not been taking up performance-enhancing drugs, contrary to the Mayweathers’ belief.  The latter compromise has not been accepted by the Mayweathers.

PacMan is already infuriated by the Mayweathers’ allegations hence he is now lifting a finger to clear his name not only to the Filipino people who have always believed in him but to the whole international community as well.  PacMan is extremely bothered and offended by the Mayweathers because their claims are also being channeled through international media tools such as CNN thus creating a stigma amongst the viewers that he, one of the greatest boxers in the world might really be on steroids.

A lot of boxing enthusiasts are completely dismayed by the derailment of this much awaited fight between the Ali and Frazier of our time.  However, PacMan won’t disappoint his fans that much by having a fight with another South American boxer on 2010.

Everything can be done with the power of money. It is not a secret to all of us that Manny Villar is just another Filipino Billionaire. But this time with a different path, a path which not many tried to surpass, the road from a average Filipino to someone who is “known”, “rich”, and powerful to say. Senator Manny Villar really stands tall and proud among the few Filipinos who excelled despite the fact that all odds stood up against them.

But, do you think that, that is reason enough to vote for him to lead our country? Do you think that the “help” that he is offering is forever, and that it is right to “give” money to the people instead of showing people “how to get to money”? I’m not very sure if Villar’s ideal Philippines is anyhow close to what I have on mind. But basing everything on the advertisements, it is clear to see that his target are the poor Filipinos, and the OFWs. Pretty neat business if you ask me. If you can turn the OWFs to your side, then the people they leave behind in the Philippines are going to automatically be yours.

I know Filipinos are not that dumb. But desperate situations often require desperate measurements. Of course, someone as rich as Villar running for Presidency would be the ideal solution for our small time problems. Like rice for a couple of days, weeks, or huh, months; but that would seriously be it.

I’m not saying that he should stop offering his hard earned money to the people. But I’m not suggesting that that’s good either. Like I have said above, we need a leader that teaches us to earn money, and not someone who will baby sit a whole nation of half lazy and half working people. We can’t deny the fact that many of us are lazy, there are thousands of those who know not better but drink and drink and drink. A bit money out of the pocket and their votes are yours.

Improving our nation requires effort from both ends, the people and the leaders, and that is something that not everyone wants to know about. As most are just hoping for a cool President to come along and safe us from everything bad. Nah, nah, nah, that’s not gonna help you Philippines.

Let advertisements not blind you, and even if the upcoming sentences ain’t that true. Personally, any president will do. As long as he or she has never been involved into issues concerning money.

Basically, the term S’mores is an abbreviated term for “give me some more” or “some more”.  S’mores started as a camping treat in the United States for boys and girl scouts.  The traditional S’mores has been done by putting marshmallows on a skewer and grilling the those on fire.  When the marshmallows have already been toasted enough, those are put on sheets of graham crackers and sandwiched with another cracker.

The recipe that you will see in a few has a twist into it.  Well, it’s no special twist as I have already seen many Moms do it for their kids’ baon or snacks but since it’s easy and I know that kids hate snacks that are very predictable, I’m gonna put in a new ingredient into it.

What you will need:

1. A bag of marshmallows (white round ones are recommendable)
2. Classic graham crackers
3. Thin chocolate bars (milk, white, dark, whatever suits your taste)*
4. Thinly-sliced bananas or fruits (strawberries, kiwis, apples, whatever)–> OPTIONAL
5. Sprinklers –> OPTIONAL

Directions:

1. Break the graham crackers into your desired size.  Lay the crackers on a clean and dry surface.  Open the bag of marshmallows with clean and dry hands.  Put marshmallows on the “back side” of the crackers.  Put the marshmallows properly so that they won’t fall down afterwards.  Set aside.  If chocolate bars aren’t present, you can use chocolate spreads like Nutella.  Some people have used peanut butter for this too like Skippy.  Don’t put too much chocolate spread if you are preparing this for kids who’d bring it to school to avoid mess.

2. Get another set of graham crackers and lay those in a cool, clean and dry place.  Open the chocolate bars and cut them into the right sizes.  Right sizing is important to avoid mess.  The chocolate bars in each graham cracker should be just fit enough–not too big and not too small. Set aside.

3. Put the grahams with marshmallows in an oven toaster.  Do not cramp up the toaster and leave gaps between the crackers.  If the toaster’s pan has stains on it, it would be best to use an aluminum foil for sheathing against the stains of the pan.  1.5 minutes heating time should be enough for a toasted fix.  2 minutes heating time if you want the mallows to be completely melted.  Heating beyond 2 minutes can totally burn the mallows and give you a bitter fix.

4. Take the mallowed crackers out of the oven toaster immediately after the set time has passed.  Toasters still are hot after minutes of heating hence the mallows can be burnt if left inside the toaster.  Lay the mallowed crackers on top of the crackers with chocolate bars creating a sandwich.  Do not wait for the mallows to cool down as it will not make the chocolates to stick onto the mallows when sandwiched.

OPTIONALS:

You can also put in thin slices of bananas and fruits over the marshmallows before you sandwich it with the chocolates. If you have sprinklers, you can sprinkle ‘em on the marshmallows right after those were put out of the oven for added design.  Remember that food becomes prettier with added design in it.

This is very ideal for slumber parties and for kids who like bringing baon to school.  These can be individually wrapped with aluminum foil and put into clean and dry containers.  Even college and high school students can still bring these to school e.g. my brother and I. It’s actually a good replacement to unhealthy chips that we usually buy for snacks when we go to parties and to school.  Just remember to drink lots of water and brush your teeth after eating these sweet treats!

It wasn’t too long either when that crazy girl committed an immortal sin that changed her life forever.

And look, what we’ve got here again, a pretty much the same like the one about 11 months back. A situation that could easily be avoided if we’d open our eyes to the reality and apply a bit common sense to our actions before we actually do them.

I am very sure that isn’t the lone case that is about to happen – or has happened – since the young friend of mine changed her destiny. And I’m also very sure that this trend will go on and go on…

Every time I hear girls having problems like the ones I’m discussing here makes me wonder how they’ve ended up in deep holes like that. I mean, don’t they have any respect for themselves? Don’t they love themselves? ARE THEY EVEN THINKING?

I know, some are truly ignorant, but I can cite you cases in which girls act as they know-everything, but end up with absolutely nothing, hence, the case of Kevin’s dear friend was indeed not like that. That’s why we became friends after all.

It saddens me when females of ages 15 and below ask me the question if they should offer their everything to their boyfriends. It infuriates me every time I hear boys talk about these poor kids, taking advantage of their ignorance and then just trashing them aside.

IS THIS HOW WE FILIPINO TEENAGERS REALLY ARE?

I don’t know, if asking a bit self respect and respect for the girls is too much to ask from all of you. All I know is that we shouldn’t commit such moral crimes at young, innocent ages like that. We shouldn’t even talk about them, think about them, and even DO them.

I tell you, it’s true. No sincere boyfriend would ever BEG you (even ask you) to engage into PMS (pre-marital sex). BIRTHDAY GIFT? CHRISTMAS GIFT? ANNIVERSARY? MONTHSARY? To hell with all their reasons, I know, you know, many know that those are mere excuses to reach your juice. We won’t let that happen, we don’t want it to happen to any of you reading this website or anyone in the Philippines (and even the world at large).

Please, wake up, (bitches). Those boys are not good enough for you, and don’t deserve you. If someone really loves you, they can and will wait for the right time, and you know that they do. After Mayweather’s suggestion that PacMan can be on steroids, Mayweather Promotions proposed that a random Olympic-style kind of testing be done to both PacMan and Mayweather 48 hours BEFORE the fight on March.  Said testing involves extraction of blood from both boxers to determine if anyone of them is on prohibited substances.

This test, unfortunately, is something that the Pound-For-Pound King and his managers cannot agree upon for their belief that such procedure is hazardous to the body and can affect the body’s performance for such fight.  Freddie Roach said that Manny Pacquiao is willing to undergo the said test RIGHT AFTER the game but NOT BEFORE the game because PacMan, a natural person who is squeamish about needles believes that drawing blood from his body 48 hours before the fight is bad.  PacMan’s promoter Bob Arum stated that such proposal is “absolutely ridiculous” for they do not see the logic behind having the test BEFORE the game when the results won’t be different if they conduct the test AFTER the fight since the traces of prohibited substances do not really wear off as fast as 48 hours.  For PacMan’s party, having the test before the fight is simply a tactic of Mayweather to harass and eventually weaken PacMan.

Mayweather said that he would only pursue with the fight IF AND ONLY IF PacMan agrees to undergo such testing 48 hours BEFORE the fight.  He also claimed that PacMan’s hesitance to undergo the testing makes him highly doubtful of PacMan’s strengths as it makes PacMan look like someone who is hiding something from the boxing world.

Roach and Arum claim that PacMan has already underwent necessary and required tests for boxers like him and has a gleaming record in terms of the substances that he intakes.  They also contend that such testing whom elite athletes like Lance Armstrong and Lebron James have already taken is too much to ask from boxers as it can weaken them.  Boxers undergo blood and urine testing weeks before a fight but not 48 hours before the fight–this is what PacMan’s party is willing to oblige upon with an additional of another blood testing after the fight.

According to Roach, they do not give a damn if Mayweather does not pursue the fight just because of this whole blood testing shiz.  After all, PacMan still has a much wider options for opponents unlike Mayweather.  As Roach puts it, “I really don’t care, because Manny doesn’t need Floyd Mayweather.  The tests he’s requiring are not commission tests, they’re not boxing tests and this is not an Olympic sport.  A urine test is just as qualified as a blood test.  Human growth hormone* is not detected by blood or urine.”  PacMan’s party also contends that if Mayweather really is willing to fight with PacMan, he should be already contented with commission tests and won’t longer be conditional by asking for tests as such just to pursue the fight.

Biases aside, I think we all Filipinos should look forward to 2010.  Not only because it’s gonna start with a total bang with Ne-Yo, Paramore and The Killers having concerts during the first quarter of the year.  But seriously, I think this year has been entirely depressing not only for me but for all Filipinos as well.

Who would easily forget the nightmares brought to us by the night of September 26, 2009?  This is the night that Ondoy, the worst tropical depression the Philippines had to date started to drown possessions, investments, dreams and even lives of thousands of Luzon dwellers.  A few days after Ondoy, another typhoon accelerated in the form of Pepeng–which devastated thousands of people from the North of Luzon.

On November 23, 2009, 57 civilians were mercilessly murdered in the Maguindanao Massacre that happened on the fateful place of Amapatuan, Maguindanao.  This horrible event is still being mourned for by millions of Filipinos around the globe aided by the fact that there has been a very slow investigation of the said crime. A myriad of concerned bodies all around the globe also scrutinized the Philippine state for the seemingly flawed methods of investigation it has imposed with regards to the Massacre.  Eventually, cases against the suspects like Andal Ampatuan Jr. (a candidate for the mayoralty position in the said area) have been filed–which gives all of us a fighting chance that this hideous crime will be given the highly sought-for justice at the end of the day.  Here’s me hoping that this case really be treated accordingly or else many people will get mad.  This is really such a horrible crime. And the government should stop treating its constituents like morons who would take knee scrapes in exchange of innocent lives and shattered dreams.

On the same year, the Philippines has lost its number one fan in the form of King of Rap Francis Magalona [44 y.o.] and its democracy icon President Corazon Aquino [76 y.o.].  Our country also lost a remarkable film-maker and actor in the form of Mr. Johnny Delgado [61 y.o.].

On the worldwide scenario, it has also been a remarkable year for the deaths of numerous celebrities.  The world has lost its King of Pop Michael Jackson [50 y.o.] which is most probably the hugest shocker of 2009.  Some of the other people who have left us this year are Brittany Murphy [32 y.o.] (Clueless & Just Married), Stephen Gately [33 y.o.] (Boyzone), Patrick Swayze [57 y.o.] (Ghost & Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights), Daul Kim [20 y.o.] (South Korean Supermodel), Lucy Gordon [28 y.o.] (Spiderman 3 & Serendipity) and Chris Henry [26 y.o.] an American football wide receiver.   For a list of celebrities who passed away at 2009, click HERE.

At the moment of writing, the Philippines’ most active volcano, Mt. Mayon is at Alert Level 4 already and is claimed to be ready to blast hazardous lava and ashes in days.  The predicted eruption date is on New Year’s Day or a day after New Year’s Day.  Albeit the residents around the volcano have already evacuated days ago, the activity of the volcano is still strong enough to reach beyond the estimated boundaries of lava.  I guess the best thing we can do for our fellow countrymen living around the volcano is to offer them prayers that Divine Intervention makes the volcanic activities relatively weaker for damages in life and properties be minimal.  It can be truly easy to be apathetic when it comes to this matter especially if you are residing outside the affected area.  However, I believe that it is already the least thing we can do for our brothers and sisters residing there.  Of course I know that we can always say that we serve as safeguards for them by being able to donate relief goods and clothes to them after the disaster.  But if you come to think of it, saying a prayer will just take moments of our time and all our prayers combined with really mean a lot.  This is so much better than relying on the presence of future relief goods for we give these people a fighting chance that their lives and investments will be less harmed.

I am pretty sure that the difficulties and pains of 2009 aren’t exclusive to me and to the people who have been affected by the disasters and crimes of this year.  Let me not forget to mention that the economy of this year hasn’t been really favorable–given that many people are still unemployed or underemployed.  If you’re a regular visitor of supermarkets, you probably noticed that the carts of people nowadays have significantly decreased in contents.  People tend to buy more basic commodities now unlike before where people could still afford to buy extra stuff.  It just proves that everyone is currently experiencing financial crisis.

Well aside from the Pacquaio-Mayweather fight and the concerts that I mentioned earlier, there are a lot of exciting things to look forward to in 2010.  One of these things is the FIFA World Cup to be held in South Africa.  On June, we would be experiencing a partial lunar eclipse which will become a total lunar eclipse on July.  For a complete list of events to set on 2010, click this LINK.

And of course for Filipinos, we would be all experiencing the chance to elect new leaders of our state on May 10, 2010.  It is also going to be the first elections that will use the automation machines so I guess every registered voter is excited and very hopeful for a clean and peaceful election.  I hope we won’t be disappointed.

The year 2010 in essence is the materialization of the new beginning that we have been all waiting for.  It is the new chance for us to omit the mistakes we’ve done in 2009 for us to have easier and better lives.  It will bring a big heap of hope that life, despite so much trials and bumps is still worth living for.  It’s a new avenue for us to prove our skills, our strengths and show the people around us what we’ve got!

If you are reading this article from your homes away from all calamities and disasters, take note, you are lucky. Lucky to not be in a situation like thousand of other Filipinos have been during the time the typhoons wrecked northern Philippines, lucky, to not be within the danger zone of the Mount Mayon which is most likely to erupt within days as it is already in Alert Level 4.

Some believe that the Mount Mayon should erupt before the new year comes, while of course, most wish it not to boom at all. Let’s hope that no one will be harmed and put to danger if ever it erupts. I personally want the volcano to spell its rage before the year ends, so that we can sail smoothly and peacefully into a 2010 where nothing but the best will happen for us Filipinos, in terms of rehabilitation and recovery from all the natural calamities that we’ve been victims of.

I hope that all of you could offer a moment of prayer before we head to bed tonight and talk to Bro. Let’s ask him to help us overcome this hurdle that we’re about to face, that the people from the Albay Region about to face, ’cause whatever happens to them, is damage to us all.

Activities at the venue included a five-hour program of K-pop performances, Kosplay, K-star sing/dance contests, stand-up Komedy, and the first Philippine K-pop Awards. Each participating fanclub hosted FC and activity booths to rally and induct new members. Fans could also purchase goods, participate in activities and enjoy perks prepared by various FCs.

Among the K-pop community, Sandara Park or now known as Dara Park of 2ne1 is a noteworthy singer who first had her taste of fame here in the Philippines through Star Circle Quest. Some of her projects here in the Philippines, Krystala (a superhero-based series), and single “In or Out”.  2ne1 is a rising band that debuted this year in May and has already had their share of awards including Mnet Asian Music Awards, Best New Female Artist, Asian Music Awards Song of the Year “I Don’t Care”, an award that has never been given to a newcomer band. Personally, this is my favorite Kpop group yet. With the combination of CL’s swagger, Mimzy’s killer moves, Dara’s freshness, and Bom’s feminine beauty, their unique fashion style, vocal range, and lovable personalities are what makes this group a hit.

We all have those mornings. Sluggishly walking into the bathroom, facing the mirror and slowly opening those half closed eyes and there we see it! There it is; that engorged red volcano of puss in the middle of our face. And that’s not all. Upon brushing the fringe aside, we have just discovered a facial continent full of them. The pimple, the zit, the wart, ACNE. Blemish-free? That is but a dream!

Acne can affect everyone from adolescence and older. Pimples can appear anywhere on the body that contains oil glands. Breakouts are caused by the production of sebum from the oil glands on the skin. The pores on the skin can clog up with dirt and bacteria which decreases the chances that the skin gets rid of dead cells. A blemish begins to form from two to three days after this clogging up. White blood cells take time to get rid of this lump, as much as 2 to 3 weeks.

Just how do people on the magazine, the billboards, commercials and television advertisements preserve an even-toned complexion? We may not have the wonders to Photoshop to change our everyday appearances to our liking (oh how wonderful that would be) but here are a few ways to maintain that blemish- free, milky complexion

· Keep your hands and hair out your face

Hands have been everywhere from touching doorknobs to playing piano, everywhere that may contain bacteria. The transfer of bacteria from your hand to your face can multiply your pimple problem. Hair contains oil that with sweat and dead skin cells clogs pores and cause more pimples.

· Get a good night’s sleep

Sleep is the way for the body to rejuvenate. Overnight, skin takes time to heal and repair. Without sleep, that time is depleted and the blemishes won’t be going anywhere.

· Reduce Stress

Stressful times can be the worst of times. Acne frequently appears during periods when you are stressed out due to hormonal imbalances. Take the time to relax and calm down. It would do you and your skin some good.

· Drink water

A daily intake of 8 glasses a day is enough water to replenish and hydrate your skin. Water also maintains the homeostasis in your body. Keeping your skin and body healthy is fundamental to what it takes to keep up a healthy looking complexion.

· Wash your face regularly

Wiping away access facial dirt and sweat can open and clean your pores. This way bacteria and dirt cannot build up.

· Please Don’t Pop Them

Yes, at times of impatience we all have the urge to pop that nasty pimple. Don’t. After puncturing that awful pimple, there might form an awful scar in its place. Be patient and use facial cleanser daily. Applying toothpaste onto blemishes is reported to shrink blemishes and reduce irritation due to the baking soda content.

Acne may be extreme for some people. If you feel that the breakouts are extreme don’t hesitate to consult a doctor for alternative treatments and info.
