To all female readers, beware of a new Modus Operandi employed by Gangs to rape their victims. They will use the charm of children to trap you, and get you.

Gangs, not only in Davao City are said to be utilizing a new modus operandi, more effective than any other to have their victims raped, and probably killed afterwards. Be careful in everything that you do, whatever and wherever you do so. Your feelings might be misleading, and lead you right into a trap, and as a victim of a rape.

The New Modus Operandi to Rape Women

It’s very simple, but noted effectively. They will use children, stray children, let’s say; to get your attention.

Always beware, no matter how pity looking they are.

The children may ask you to guide them to their homes, because they don’t find the way back to their homes, but that’s a total lie. Instead of guiding them home, they will be the once guiding you straight into a trap. Always, yes, always deliver these stray children to the police. It is their duty to take care of these children, and not yours, you don’t want to make a mess out of your life and be the next victim of a gang rape around the next corner.

Spread the word of the New Modus Operandi

Please spread this message to all people that you know, let’s make the public aware, share this link through Facebook, Twitter, Plurk and other social networks that you are on. Text your friends about this, and keep in mind that you should be cautious at all times, no matter how angelic that kid might look to you.

Apple had its special “all about iPods” Media Event last September 1, 2010 in San Francisco. They introduced three new, and I have to say amazing iPods to replace the present generation of Shuffle, Nano and Touch. Paired with all new iTunes 10 and PING a new music-related Social Network. As a bonus, a all new Apple TV for incredible 99$.

The All New iPod Touch

The biggest surprise among all has been the iPod Touch. Prices didn’t really decreased a lot, but what it had to offer, doubled, no, even tripled. 8 GB $229, 32 GB $299, 64 GB $399. A lot of new features and add-ons that many people would not have expected the iPod Touch to have, not anytime soon, which includes the following:

Retina Display

Apple A4 Chip

3-Axis Gyro

iOS 4.1 with Game Center

FaceTime with front-facing Camera

HD Video Recording with the rear-facing Camera

Even thinner design, that it all these featured packed into it!

It looks like I have got myself a reason to blog again to grab one of these by Christmas of this year. As present owner of a iPod Touch (3rd Gen), I have to say the newly released 4th Gen of the iPod Touch is indispensably good and worth the money. My iPod Touch has been the best buy that I made last year, and I’m looking forward to have another iPod Touch as the best buy by the end of 2010.

iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle updates

The iPod Nano placed at $149 for 8 GB, $179 for 16 GB with features like Multi-touch screen, clip, 46% smaller, 42% lighter, volume buttons, Nike+, pedometer, 24 hours of audio. Is from my point of view a little downgrade of the Nano we had last year which was able to do video recording. But this might just be the perfect iPod for the athletic music lover whilst boosting the sales of the all-rounder iPod Touch in the coming months for those who’d love to have the iPhone, without the phone and the expensive contract.

The iPod Shuffle placed at 49$ for 2GB now has buttons, VoiceOver, and playlists, rear clip. 15 hours of music, five different colors, $49 for 2 GB. A small but powerful asset to the line of iPods as we head into the Holidays Season in a few months. The Shuffle, due to its new form factor and additions won’t be less wanted than the other iPods for those who want to carry along their iTunes library!

New iTunes 10
Apple will roll out a new iTunes. iTunes 10 which introduce a new icon, new features like the music-oriented social network, Ping. But more about PING and the iTunes update in a later post when I’ll be able to grab that update and show it to you.

Let me leave you with this little post saying, the new iPod Touch is epic!

The infamous Hostage Taking Drama in Manila, Philippines took place last August 23, 2010. The victims were a number of Hong Kong Citizen tourists.

Three days have past since the very unfortunate Hostage Taking Drama that happened last August 23, 2010 in the Capital of the Philippines. But was it so dramatic after all? Two of the top Pinoy Teens Online Contributors unleash their thoughts and opinions about the said issue that took place in Metro Manila last Monday.

Mediocre Philippine Police take on the bus of the Hostage Taking Drama

First and foremost, I would like to address the S.W.A.T or “S”orry “W”ala “A”kong “T”raining Team for doing everything wrong, and I mean everything. Next, I’d like to congratulate the P.N.P or Philippine National Police for a nice job. I think you guys know what I’m referring to.

From what we know, and from our point of view, we’re certain that this was one of the worst, if not “the” worst operation that I’ve noted from a SWAT Team, and I’m sure that I’m not the only one who thinks that way. Think about it, the SWAT Team noted to have had practiced before the real life situation came up. They did almost nothing good, well, they did something, but it has taken them a lot of time.

Why did the Hostage Taking took place?

The Hostage Taker belonged to one of the Top 10 PNP all over the archipelago. With such high reputation and recognition, you’ll of course, gain a lot of enemies, aside from friends. And that’s exactly what may have happened at the end of his Policeman Career. A turn of events, really. From being one of the most reliable, reputable personalities of the Philippine National Police to the enemy of the very association itself. Being tagged by various claims that he was involved in drug deals and the likes back then in 2008.

It is questionable though, why he acted just recently on this issue which is about 2 years old already. But nevertheless, we really blame him for whatever action he has taken. He had his point, and I think if the SWAT, the PNP and the government didn’t mess up immensely that 23rd of August, 2010, we could have spared the lives of all Hong Kong Citizens on that tourist bus. But guess how it ended up?

Unforgivable Mistakes

I just can’t figure out why. Why did the team on the spot acted like that? Acted with mediocrity, as if they did not take the situation seriously? (Like stupid Noynoy didn’t looked serious in answering the questions raised the other day) The actions they took were very impractical and unprofessional. Suiting the tag that the SWAT has received that I noted above, Sorry Wala Akong Training.

In other countries, the Police would have used the family or in this case his brother in particular to negotiate terms with the hostage taker, but not here in the Philippines. Because if you, the hostage taker has a family member around the scene, they’ll show you how cruel they are and want to anger you even more to have a reason to kill you at the end of the day. But it looks like the hostage taker was not the only person that got nailed by past 10 in the evening last Monday.

Teer Gas? You’ve got to be kidding me. Those passengers had no masks on! And the PNP wildly shot inside the bus! Who knows, maybe it wasn’t Mendoza who has killed them, but stray bullets from the PNP.

I couldn’t see the Police on top of the scene. For all I noted was, that they really badly wanted to have the chance to kill Mendoza. For what? Maybe for hiding something from us all. Because after all, the whole Hostage Taking Drama was a lesson for all Policemen across the globe to exactly do not what they have done, ever again.

I hope that our Policemen will act better when something like this happens again. Or better yet, I hope that such hostage taking drama will not happen again at all.

In behalf of my fellow countrymen, I would like to apologize to the Hong Kong Citizens for how much our police, the government and our dear president have sucked. We’re all people after all, but we can’t deny that a number of those on top of the situation ain’t act as “real” people. I mean, you know what I mean, don’t you?

I know how much it has hurt the Hong Kong citizens, and the families of the victims. But I believe we can do better than getting mad at each other. I just hope that our present administration will realize that they have not handled the situation the best possible way and that they give in for an apology.

THE HOSTAGE TAKER IS NOT THE CULPRIT IN THIS SITUATION, BUT THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE TO HANDLE THE HOSTAGE TAKING DRAMA. ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO IMPRISONED HIS BROTHER FOR WHAT? NOTHING!

TANG, the worlds leading powdered beverage brand presents a new refreshing way to RAMADAN for the Muslim Community, specifically in Mindanao. The second largest food and beverage company, KRAFT presented the Davao-based Media, Traditional and New, with their newly HALAL Certified TANG.

Although, there hasn’t been any changes with the ingredients or packaging of the famous powdered beverage, what’s very notable is that it has been HALAL certified, which speaks not only of quality for the Muslim Community and in the Philippines, but also ensures the quality of the products for non-Muslims as well. TANG has been with about three generations of Filipino already and is on sale for about 36 years now, since 1974.

A Timely Event for a Refreshing RAMADAN

Muslims will enjoy a refreshing Ramadan as Tang gives them a nutritious and delicious beverage – an ideal drink for breaking their fast during this holiest events of the Muslim Community.

It does not only encourages Muslim to drink TANG during their fasting, but encourages the Filipino Child in general to drink more water. It just makes drinking water more exciting for every Filipino! It hasn’t just become affordable and easily accessible by the masses, but it is backed with the HALAL Certification ensuring the quality of the product.

What is HALAL Certification?

HALAL certification is something that is required for Muslims ever since. It is to ensure the quality of the product and the origin of the (raw) materials used in coming up with the product. Like for example, in Chicken, that they have been properly prayed over before slaughtering them. Without the HALAL Certification, the origin of the products, the ingredients, the procedure and as well as the quality of it may be questionable.

The introduction of TANG as a HALAL Certified product is just the first of many efforts in Mindanao. There will be many more to come.

To be edited.

For those of you who haven’t yet experienced this cinematic adventure, now is the time put down anything in your grasp, put everything on hold, clear up any misunderstandings, and say goodbye to everyone you know. Because when you sit down in that cinema and watch possibly the best thriller ever produced this decade, before you know it, your mind will be blown. Not just the surprise-grenade-out-of this-country blown, but the nuclear-missle-explosion-out-of-this-world blown. You will feel disoriented. You will feel breathless. You will feel confused. The first words that will be murmured (or screamed) in the theater, give or take deragatory language, will consist of: “oh.my.gosh.” “What just happened?” “I have been completely and utterly mind****ed.”

Well, let’s break this down shall we? What exactly is inception?

inception: noun : an act, process, or instance of beginning

You can take this Webster’s Mirriam Dictionary definition or you can take this one:

Inception: noun a conceptual, paradoxical thriller directed by Christopher Nolan (the man who brought blockbusters such as “The Dark Knight” and “Momento” to worldwide audiences) starring Titanic’s Leonardo DiCaprio, The Dark Knight’s Michael Cain, and Juno’s Ellen Page (to name a few of the many familiar faces of Hollywood).

Already, Inception has recieved extremely positive reception, grossing over $227.6 million dollars, climbing to the top of the American box-office, and rating 87% by Rotten Tomatoes. Genuisly innovative and brilliantly high quality, the graphics are overwhleming. A second, minute or hour has never been captured so meticulously in such magnified detail. With Inception, familiar actors forge a new claim to fame. Not to get into too much detail with the plot (spoilers will definately spoil this movie), Nolan does a remarkable job of making complex concepts simple for auidences but with this had to sacrifice some sparkle of the movie’s full effect. Some movie critics complain that the story is generally laid full out flat on the table, without any twists or turns, leaving the viewer anticipating the events rather than wondering what comes next. In retrospect, Inception is rather like a maze of intricate complexity that engineer Nolan guides the viewer through smoothly in approximately 2 hours.

Let me present to you the latest reality-based Talent Show of TV5, Star Factor. Unlike any other, Star Factor promises that it won’t just be a talent search, but the quest in finding a new star amidst the 13-18 years old range. Audition have started at SM Manila last July 25, 2010 and are in Davao this very day I’m writing.

The people behind Star Factor know well that it is easy to find new talents, but it’s hard to make them endure in the highly competitive showbiz scene nowadays.

<img src="http://pinoyteens.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/TV5_Logo.png"

They also noted at the same press conference that they’d make sure whoever ranks top among the participants in Star Factor will gain full attention of the network in becoming the next idol of the masses of the said age range. Reason why they assure so is because TV5 does not have a lot of shining stars in the given 13-18 age group and would like to develop a few names in those ages. And probably you, or your son and daughter could be the right people to take that spot!

TV5 promises to work on all aspects of entertainment with the contestants in various workshops. Meaning it won’t only be all about acting, singing or dancing, but also about stage ethics, stage parents, how to confront the media and the like. They have chosen some of the best mentors in the field of entertainment to ensure that this batch of future stars will truly become stars of the future.

Viewers Participation has been highly questioned, too. Unlike in the other reality-based TV Shows, Star Factor wishes to give way to the judges to rank the teens accordingly. This is to avoid any bias from the masses which often has become a issue. “The rich will pursue, but the poor with no fan base will go down” which has often, if not always behold truth. Unless you’re a Melai or Jason.

Star Factor will be aired once or twice during weekends with updates about the teens on weekdays. It will be a 14-week long journey of drama, entertainment, acting, dancing and more of the like.

The Buhangin Central Elementary School invited us for the Cheez Whiz Palamantasan School Elimination last Saturday, July 17, 2010 at their covered court in Buhangin, Davao City. Cheez Whiz Palamantasan is a nationwide effort from Kraft and the Department of Education to reinforce proper nutrition this July which is also known as the Nutrition Month.

The Philippine Teens Media Writing Staff, in the form of Rock Caboverde and Kevin Paquet were accompanied by other bloggers and local media friends from Davao on that Saturday morning for the Palamantasan sa Sarap affair.. At around eleven o’clock we headed to the Marco Polo to await our Van which will bring us to the venue in Buhangin. Joining the two PHTM Writers above were various bloggers like, Mark, Richard, Leah, Blogie and co.

The program kicked off a little late but nevertheless it was as promising as it should have been and even a bit more. Emcee of the day was Ateneo de Davao University Alumnus, Samantha de Leon. She is a well known media personality who has been hosting a number of events for the City of Davao Government.

Also present on that afternoon’s affair was the Senior Marketing Manager of Kraft, Paolo Serano and the Principal of the Buhangin Central Elementary School, Arturo Dela Cruz. Mr Serano revealed to the audience that the event was a simultaneous event happening all over the archipelago that moment. In his opening note he stressed out that the aim of the collaboration of the Department of Education and Kraft Foods Philippines was to reinforce proper nutrition and to create awareness about malnutrition in the Philippines which is one of the huge issues our country is facing aside from Poverty in general. He also noted that Education is still the key, but with no proper food, the kids may not get properly be educated.

<img src="http://pinoyteens.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/palamantasan.jpg" "width 250" height="200">

The BCES Pupils showed off their talents in various sections like: Sabayang Pagbigkas, Cheering, Essay Writing, Sandwich Art and Jarchicheture Making. It was funny to note that way back during my grade school years at the Sta. Ana Central Elementary School (SACES) (GR 5-6), I was one of the audience of an event like this; not a participant. So it happened again today, and it was only now that I came to appreciate their performances, the effort they’ve put into it, the time they invested to memorize the moves and words.

Let this occasion be a reminder to all of us that there are more or less 8,000,000 Filipino Children who are not receiving proper nutrition
The Department of Education is inviting other Elementary Schools across the Philippines to take part in their Palamantasan Event. Make a pledge if you feel the urge to contribute to this advocacy led by the Department of Education and Kraft.

The Winners or shall I say most-nutritious Children of the Buhangin Central Elementary School :p

Last week Saturday, July 10, 2010 was one of the most exciting days I ever had this year. I was accompanied by a few bloggers, Charles, Mark, Leah, Richard and a few others. It was around 6:30 in the evening when the primer event kicked of at the “Taste of Malaysia”. The special guest that we anticipated? One of the hottest female celebrities in the Philippines in the form of Cristine Reyes; the Model of Colt 45’s Vava-Vroom Promo.

I noted common faces among the media people in attendance, the usual people, but just with a more exciting look on their faces as all have been very eager to throw one or two questions at Cristine Reyes. Our Entertainment Blogger in the Davao Bloggers ( Mindanao New Media Community) asked Cristine a few questions relating to her showbiz career. “What are your upcoming projects?” “Are you happy at Abs-Cbn?” and the likes. But that is not the point of this article, I will discuss it more detailed in another.

The VAVA-VROOM Promo

I doubt you’d be much interested in this promo if I’d go on and tell you how you can win something. Let me start in introducing the two things that you can win when you join. First at stake is Cristine Reyes, to be more keen, a date with Cristine Reyes in Boracay. Sad to note thou, for those hoping; she’ll be staying in a different room then! Haha! The other prize that you can claim when participating in the Vava-Vroom Promo would be a modified Ford Ranger. Both prizes are for real men, and there’s no doubt about it that drinking Colt 45 is for real men too.

How can I join?

Simply collect ten crowns of Colt 45, put them in a envelop, add your name, address and all other generic stuff to it and drop them at designated drop boxes all over the Philippines. That easy.

There will be two winners at the end of the promo. One who will get the chiq and the other who will enjoy the 4×4 Ford Ranger modified for real men.

Colt 45 for Real Men?

We had moment to try it ourselves.

Cristine Reyes

Indeed we had, and I was still accompanied by the same bloggers who attended the Press Conference at Taste of Malaysia. I dearly enjoyed the VIP treatment that we’ve got at the Colt 45 Concert at the Damosa Park. Thanks to Love Radio Davao for organizing everything and letting us enjoy a night of fun, beer, girls, music and more. I had more than enough beer that night, and our dry run of Colt 45 is very positive, like my fellow bloggers *links, links, links* noted in their narration of what happened that night.

It was a superb occasion to enjoy, and arguably the best way to enter our preliminary week examination that followed after. But one thing that I would surely not have forgotten would be the name of the one Colt 45 Model I had a real crush on. All I can hope she’ll read this and note her face below. :p

Colt 45 Vava-Vroom Model

I WAS four years old when I first watched the original Toy Story, and I was blown away by how real everything looked. Ever since then, my VHS was almost broken since I must have watched it a million times. Same went for Toy Story 2, and I was impressed with both animation and storytelling. The series is definitely a classic, still enjoyable even when one grows up.

When I heard that they were making a third Toy Story, I was excited and somehow nervous. I was excited because it was a moment of revisiting my childhood, and the fact that I waited eleven years for that. However, I was nervous because most threequels are huge disappointments, with the exception of “Star Wars” and “Lord of the Rings.” The originals are, and will always be, the best part of the series, and sequels and threequels will always be just the studios’ schemes of earning more money.

Fortunately, Toy Story 3 did not disappoint, and I’m adding it to my list of the Best Movie Threequels Ever.

If you recall, Toy Story 2 reminds its audience of the fragility of the relationship between a kid and a toy. When Jesse told Woody that her previous owner grew up and abandoned her, Woody realized that day is coming for him as well. That day comes in Toy Story 3.

The movie starts with a home montage, showing Andy throughout the years playing with his toys, until he reaches the age of 17, and ready for college. While Woody, Buzz, Rex, the Potato Heads, Jesse, Hamm, Slinky, and Bullseye are around, other toys weren’t so lucky. Some were sold, donated, or thrown away.

Since Andy has grown up, the toys are desperate to be played with again. Before they can be placed in the attic, however, they are accidentally donated to Sunnyside Daycare.

At Sunnyside Daycare, they meet new toys who have also been donated by their previous owners. The head is Lotso, a hugging bear, who tells them that in the daycare, the kids never outgrow the toys because once they grow up, new kids come in. Also introduced in the film are a creepy big baby and Ken, who is more effeminate than Barbie.

At first, the toys love the idea, but they learn the dark side of daycare. Not only are the toddlers abusive to toys (although that part was funny), but Lotso runs the daycare like a prison. Woody manages to escape and, while he does find a new owner, he goes back to save the others.

The movie has everything: action, humor and romance. But what made it for me was the amount of heart that it had. No spoilers here, but there’s a moment towards the end that shows how much the toys really love each other and how far they are willing to go in order to stay together.

Also, the end brings all three movies full circle. I won’t spoil how, but it had so much emotion. What makes “Toy Story” films so compelling to me is that they perfectly nail the cycle of childhood. We see just how deep our bond with toys runs and how we can care about plastic objects just as much as we do to people because toys are our first friends.

The other thing that made these movies work is that they conveyed that toys feel the same way about us as we do to them, more so in fact. Toys don’t get older and that’s their curse. They have to see us get older, and “Toy Story 3” reveals how painful yet satisfying that moment can be.
