Noynoy, your name doesn’t count…

January 30, 2010

Noynoy Aquino is the present most favored candidate for Presidency. He’s son of famous Cory and Ninoy Aquino. It does not imply he should be celebrated the way he thinks he should be.

“I’m the daughter of a brilliant lyricist. Sure, I write songs too but should people celebrate that before they even hear my songs? Hmm.” (Isabella Magalona, 2009)

Filipinos, when it comes to their political life, can’t help but be squeamish at times–and I mean really squeamish. It’s not betrayal if one politician decides to change parties or decides to be a political prostitute; it’s called patriotism. “One swears allegiance only to the country, not to his party”. Yeah right. It’s not also peculiar if one elected official is initially seen as an “exemplar of the highest morality” or as an “honest public servant”, just to be later derided as “corrupt” or “degenerate”. Take the incumbent president for example. Her accession to the highest office of the land was met with expectation by all sectors of society. Nine years later, after the state of things was not perceived to have ameliorated in any spectacular way, she is touted as being worse than her predecessor–whom we sacked in a second people power revolution (which should have given us the impression who’s the worse and the WORST). It seems that no matter how epic our actions may be, or how legendary they may be in the cause of democracy, our squeamishness would later betray the principles from which we are known throughout the worldnoynoy.

Well, these political farces are not uncommon in a developing country. Clearly, it has been shown by history that decades of political instability are succeeded by years of economic prosperity, and by extension, a greater commitment to the teachings of democracy and liberty. It’s just that people get impatient at times. In one way or another, they will finally realize that political bickering and fighting will bring them to nothing; and in some degree, will unite to carry their country into sustainable levels of development. They may accomplish this through autocratic means–like what South Korea and Taiwan have done in the past; or through a gradual and less direct but more democratic method which is often under the guidance of enlightened and idealistic leaders such as former communist Eastern European countries like Poland.
These I can accept. But there is one thing which I cannot find any excuse from. I don’t know if we’re the only country which has done this but patently, this is an insult to the intelligence and and logical reasoning  of the Filipino people. Ladies and gentlemen, I am talking about this notion in our country which depicts that politics is a very complex and important issue to be decided by the whims of outpouring emotion.

I am referring to Noynoy Aquino.

Just late last year, Mar Roxas, the Liberal Party’s main contender for the 2010 presidential elections, stepped down from his bid in order to make way for the Aquino scion whom he described as “being more capable to lead the country”. Well, that was Roxas’ polite way of telling us that he had been pressured by political allies both inside and outside Liberal to step down for the new man of the hour. To think that he was spending millions bombarding our television screens with his “advocacy” campaigns, then all of a sudden he quits from the race, is a big surprise indeed. And what could have caused this act of political impulsiveness? Surely, this is the emotion of thousands of people grieving upon the death of the former president and Noynoy’s mother, Cory Aquino. Her unexpected demise from Cancer shocked the whole nation and even the global arena who throughout the past 20 years, have sought refuge from her determination and ideals together with that of her martyr husband Ninoy. Furthermore, the couple left a very lasting and conspicuous mark on Philippine history making the Aquino surname a household name. Thus, it is but natural for these people to perceive Noynoy as their future new hero simply because he has the same surname and from the crude assumption that if his parents are known for their heroic ideals, then he should have also “inherited” these principles, as if they were material wealth.  Intelligence can be inherited, yes.  However, I believe that the method of putting this intelligence comes from something unique within and is NOT inherited.

But through careful examination of reason, we know that this is not the case. It does not follow that if your parents are good, you are good as well. Same goes to people who have tyrannical parents.  For instance, the father-son relationship of Claudio Teehankee Sr. and Claudio Teehankee Jr.  The former is one of the most renowned Chief Justice of the Philippines.  The latter is a scrutinized ex-convict for murder.  Though it is very fallacious to downplay the role of parents in the rearing and guidance of their children’s destinies, one could not rest on their ideals alone. Personal experience, education, and the influence of other people are equally essential pillars as well. It is apparent that Noynoy plays the willing pawn to this delusion, no matter how he might have resisted and argued against such proposition. He offers us accountability, transparency, honesty, and determination–which are NOTHING but the recycled axioms of his mother and father. Heck, he could not even put up strong arguments and standpoints in debates against his rivals in presidential debates and forums!   Besides these, it is safe to say that he won’t really be offering anything new in the future. If the values of your parents truly live up to you too, then you should have your own values as well. Those familial values make you only half-worthy–YOU have to build your own name as well.  YOU need to work on it.  It’s not your parents or your tactless sister.  To rest on your laurels is a bad thing, but to rest on your parents’ laurels? Such is an act of the worst proportions indeed.
noynoy2
And could the Filipino people trust a president who is quickly moved by the simplest acts of caprice? Noynoy, before accepting the calls to presidency last September, DID NOT even have the clearest of intentions of running. Great power comes with great responsibility, and great responsibility comes with great PREPARATION. Noynoy did not prepare for such responsibility as a senator nor fulfill the responsibility of a man of that position, as evidenced by the lack of bills he authored or even co-sponsored. If ever he becomes chief executive, will he have a strong stand on political and social issues, such as the RH Bill and Agrarian Reform? Will he have the upper hand in high-level governmental decisions, or simply delegate such matters to his supporters/advisers? From the beginning of his bid to the presidency, we are already being assured that Noynoy will be a president SANS conviction and duty. I can already imagine what Noynoy would do if faced with pressing exigencies or any kind of challenges to his position. Maybe, invoke the name of his parents, just like what he does in his pre-campaign period adverts and utter the words “ituloy and laban” all over and over again.

Though for many people, these are not enough to make them think otherwise. They cite Noynoy’s integrity and clean record as reasons for their support. They think that a candidate’s uprightness and incorruptibility is a big factor in support of his presidency, as a president of that kind will make a powerful front against graft and corruption. Yet sadly, for the most part, an upright and honest president WILL NEVER BE enough. It would be useless if your leader is accountable but your members are not, and the perfect example would be that of his own mother Cory Aquino’s experience. Graft and corruption cannot be annihilated by empty promises, flawless candidate profiles, or congressional inquiries but only through a show of uncompromising and persistent action and attention of all sectors of society. A problem of the grandest scale and consisting of a lot people needs a solution of an equal mettle as well. And it is highly doubt that that effort can be properly spearheaded by Noynoy, who is yet to prove himself as a capable leader.

Family ties, a high sense of morality, and appeals to emotion are not valid to either put Noynoy on the top or make him a candidate to the presidency. A candidate’s political achievements, his stand on important social issues, idealism, and resolute remain paramount in deciding who would occupy the most powerful and important position in the country. He/she should also consider excluding a candidate of a whimsical and vacillating character to his/her list of considerations, as squeamishness has long delayed our efforts in genuine reform of our politics. And by intrepidly using his name as a platform, Noynoy is actually promoting the bane of traditionalist dynastic politics–which is ultimately unconstitutional and undemocratic. He is no different to those corrupt and derided politicians who always call upon their fathers and uncles and mothers in order to win (and cheat) the hearts of the people.

Noynoy, it doesn’t mean that if your parents are heroes, you’re a hero as well. You could only inherit their name, their riches, and possibly their fame. But never their heroicness.

3 Possible Uses for the iPad

January 30, 2010

iTampon ceases in popularity on Twitter, and it looks like everything is starting to grow up to their respective ages again. Or is it just that all the whiners have run their tears dry already? Well, I have to say that the Apple iPad is not really what I expected it to be, I very confused if it will be a successful product or just a huge failure like most other Tablets.

It is clear that Apple is the leading Software/Hardware Manufacturer, and their stellar “most advanced” product shows off their leadership. But that’s another topic for another article. Let me bring you straight to three possible uses for the iPad.

  • Get aMac Mini and VNC Connect your iPad via WIFI – you’ll be having a multi-touch iMac that way that you can access everywhere in the house!
  • VNC Connect to your computer at home or work – See, you don’t need a full horsepower computer/laptop with you, when you can control it with your iPad from anywhere (as long as there’s WiFi or as long as you have 3G connection)
  • Listen to music – hey, acclaimed 120 hours of music isn’t that bad, is it?

How would you use the iPad if ever you’d have one?

Apple’s iPad – Fail or Success?

January 28, 2010

The future of this weird, underwhelming, and underpriced new device from Apple is unclear. I mean, it just launched yesterday and is going to ship within the 60 days. Yet, one thing is for sure, majority of existing Apple Costumers who are in possession of an iPod (Touch), iPhone, iMac, Macbook Pro, Mac Pro, etc, think that the iPad literally sucks. Who doesn’t really believe that it sucks?

  • No Flash
  • No Camera
  • No USB Slot
  • No SD Card Slot
  • The name sucks
  • NO MULTI-TASKING
  • No -new third- iPad dedicated OS
  • Looks like an mutated iPod or a iPod on ‘roids.
  • Screen Resolution too low

I know, I have not gotten my hands on this thing yet, but those are indeed the flaws of this product, with i guess a lot more to come once its out in the stores.

I feel very disappointed about this product. I don’t know why, but I really do. I expected something more superior, not a big brother of an iPod. Somehow, I’m happy that I’m not the only one standing on the side of people who were disappointed about this product and look at it like it’s just one big fat joke.

One thing that I’m somehow curious about is, if this was the same case when the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch came out? I don’t think a lot of people really believed in those products either during their first couple of months? Anyways, we’ll see in a year or so where the Apple iPad is going to place itself and how it will kill eReaders (kindle) and Netbooks (and its own kind: iPods).

Let’s look at this product from a positive point of view.

  • The Price is exceptional
  • It’s indeed Apple’s most advanced and innovative product
  • It’s amazingly fast
  • And weighs almost nothing (those people from engadget are just took weak)
  • Has its “iPad specialized” version of iWork (Pages, Keynote, Numbers)

The Apple iPad promises to (once again) enhance and change the way we’re computing. It might not be something that pro’s want to use to replace their Macbook Pro’s, iMac, etc with, but it is something that the general public (aside from most geeks, like us) is going to love and embrace; especially when you take a look at the price. Apple may have provided a little “shorter” storage than expected, but cloud-storage won’t take too long to become reality, with that, the iPad is way ahead of the competition.

NO FLASH? No problem, actually. That’s one thing that beholds truth. HTML5 will be able to handle your “flash” experience with ease. Apple has got a product that doesn’t allow flash, which kinda sucks for us right now, but it is ready for the future, and will be very happy and delighted to hit sites supporting and using HTML5 to show videos, etc.

The list could go on and on, defending the product and bashing it. I don’t want to look like a Fanboy, which I really ain’t be. But I don’t want to criticize the iPad any further to be bashed “I told you so, the iPad will rule” in a year or two by random Apple freaks in return.

I just wish that they could enhance the device somehow, and make it appealing not only to the new customers and general users (netbook users, etc) but to the other field as well. We’re not asking to have every single feature we request to be included, but I’d be delighted to see ALL of the following:

  • Front Facing Camera
  • MULTI-TASKING Capability

We can live without flash, since we’ll see more and more sites using HTML5 anyways.

Until then, this product will be labeled the iWaste. Apple, you’ve really failed me, iBelieve(d) in you!!

ps: At least we’ve come to realize that not all Apple FANBOYS are going to support Apple in EVERYTHING that they do, like now!

Videoke: An All-Time Irresistible Filipino Pleasure

January 25, 2010

Filipinos are so madly and deeply in love with singing!  This can be manifested by the endless existence of amateur singing contests and singing contests in TV popping out all over the place like mushrooms.  In the much more common life, we’ll see videoke machines in canteens, in tricycle terminals, and in all kinds of parties.  Recently, I came across this funeral service establishment which has this big sign in front which read:

Funeral with libing and VIDEOKE package promo!

That signage made me give it a second look–as I don’t really like looking at funeral parlors, of all places!  That was my first time to see such offer and it really made my mind have a flashback of all the funerals and wakes that I have attended in the past (I don’t have a lot really and I’m thankful for that) and thought if I have ever seen a funeral with the relatives of the departed singing through the videoke machine–and I have attended none so far.  Not that I want to.  I think it’s totally ridiculous to sing your hearts out when the family is mourning the loss.

This just proves the preponderance of the singing prowess in the Filipino society’s activities.  If we be happy because we passed the BAR examinations or the boards, we would always hit the videoke bars or rooms and celebrate over drinks or food.  If one of our friends got his heart broken by a girl, one person in the barkada will always say ikanta mo na lang ‘yan dude (project that to singing, dude).

We Filipinos do not really give a damn if we have the most horrible voice amongst the crowd.  If we are asked by our friends to sing, we WILL look for our mastered song and end up singing just for the heck of it!  My paternal side of the family developed this certain tradition during our Christmas parties ever since the scoring in videokes became popular.  In our parties, we’d list down names of the willing participants and would sing whatever song in the Magic Sing every time his/her name is called.  The singer’s score will be noted and at the end of the game, the scores will be added and the total will be the amount of cash the person will get.  So if you sing your practised songs and get scores not lower than 100 all the time, you’d probably go home with a big smile on your face.  I would say that I have cousins whose voices truly sound like aluminum plates being torn but for the sake of money, they didn’t really give a damn.  After all, Filipinos always appreciate the performance of singing.  I believe that we do not really look at the quality of the person’s voice but at the willingness and dedication to entertain our family and friends.

I am sure that each and everyone of us has tried singing in parties and gatherings through the Magic Sing.  For this, we have mastered at least one song so that we’d always be prepared when we are asked to belt out.  I have a cousin who is working in the media industry and whenever they’d be partying with clients, they would always bring them to places like RedBox or Centerstage.  Of course, everyone in their company would be required to sing–as a manifestation that they’re willing to cross the boundaries just to please and entertain their clients.  She’s not really one who’s gifted with a nice singing voice but through the years, she has been using Police’s Every Breath You Take as a piece.  It’s convenient for her because it’s low-pitched and does not require birits.  :P

Videoke singing is definitely my number one guilty Filipino pleasure and my videoke mastered “pieces” are Burn, Dancing Queen, Torn, Alone, It Must Have Been Love, 2 Become 1 and Time After Time. :D

What is yours? :) Or what is your most guilty Filipino pleasure? :P

Kris Aquino has my back now, what do you think?

January 25, 2010

Kris Aquino is in the showbiz headlines once again.  Albeit this may be a late article about this current fiasco since you probably have heard everything from The Buzz and from other showbiz news sources already, I’m still going to say something about this since I’m also driven when it comes to such topics.

It’s very sad that Krissey’s marriage with popular basketball player James Yap is on the rocks once more.  We all know how James Yap faced public humiliation when Hope, an ex-employee of Belo Medical Group admitted in national television that she had an affair with James Yap and had sexual relations with him inside the Belo clinic’s cubicles.  This revelation resulted to Kris, pulling out her affiliation with the clinic and even her friendship with the company’s key player Dr. Vicki Belo.

This time, Kris Aquino-Yap is being accused of a Valle Verde 5 resident Mayen Austria of being completely rude and inconsiderate when Kris confronted her about the fact that she keeps on calling and sending James Yap messages about her recent heartbreak.  This has infuriated Kris because it has already become a huge disturbance to their daily activities.  In an interview in The Buzz, Kris narrated that her string was pulled when Mayen called James on the phone in the middle of their meal. This made Kris decide that she will already confront Mayen and tell her that she is not happy with her frequent calls for James.

The main issue of Kris here is how unhappy she is with Mayen’s persistence and the recurrence of her calls and SMS messages for James.  The point of Kris is that James is a married man and another girl bugging him (even as a friend) about her heartache is not a good thing to see. This is especially that said calls and messages are already interrupting the couple’s daily activities.  So before a taping, Kris decided to drop by Mayen’s residence which was only a street away from theirs to inform her that she is aware of her frequent calls and that she is not happy anymore with what Mayen’s doing.  Kris informed James about this and as a result, James told Mayen that Kris will be coming and that the best thing for her to do is to just say sorry for what she has done (what a wuss = James Yap).

Mayen’s mother welcomed Kris in their home informing her that various figures like a bishop and an old head of Poveda were there.  Despite the presence of said figures, Kris was not halted from doing her real intention in going there which was to confront Mayen.  At the end of the day, said confrontation took place and Kris headed to an overdue taping afterwards.

Days after, rumors about the aforementioned incident spread with some accusations against Kris stating that she cussed and yelled at Mayen during the confrontation and even neighbors heard it.

Kris Aquino has a sosyalerang-taklesang image so this could have really happened.  However, I find it extremely peculiar that after leaking this issue to the public and bragging about the witnesses present during the event, Mayen’s camp suddenly chose to keep mum about the issue. What was their point in bringing this issue to the public, really? I am pretty sure that it was to seek revenge after Kris “cussed” and “yelled” at them during the confrontation.  Said decision to just keep mum about it after bringing it out makes me skeptic about their real intentions in leaking the details of the incident. Was it to earn the sympathy of the public after such humiliating incident? Was it to merely scrutinize the rude behavior of Kris and fight for their crushed egos because they were “cussed” and “yelled at”? Or like how many people perceive it, was the leakage made to affect Noynoy Aquino’s candidacy? I mean I really do not get it! In one way or another, Mayen really is at fault here because she’s the one who kept on bugging James Yap even though she knows that James is married! If I were her, I won’t even disclose said confrontation to people who couldn’t be trusted for it is really due to a shameless act.

Whatever the reason for th leakage is, I still find the cussing and yelling claims together with Mayen’s decision to keep mum about it dubious. First of all, I believe that residents of Valle Verde are mostly composed of the educated and rich ones. If you have a bishop and the former head of one of the most prestigious exclusive schools in the country chit-chatting in your home while sipping tea, you are UNDENIABLY oozing with wealth, influence and up there in the social classes. These people are the types who won’t let someone else step on their morale especially if they know that they on the right side.  Unlike the average people, these kinds won’t be ever threatened if ever the one their going up against is a really huge figure like Kris Aquino–and I think it’s a general belief that yelling at you and CUSSING you is something which can really crush someone’s ego, isn’t it?  Especially if you’re talking about these so-rich-I-live-in-Valle kind of people, they won’t be happy with their egos and shattered stepped on.

So IF EVER there is truth to the cussing and yelling thing, WHY KEEP MUM?  WHY NOT DEFEND YOUR STAND?  That is just so weird!

Well why does Kris Aquino have my back now? Some people have been actually saying that Kris is such a hypocrite because she was once a woman who had affairs with married men like Philip Salvador and Joey Marquez. For this, people have been saying that she does not have the right to confront Mayen for what she has been doing with James. Folks, this I believe, is NOT a question about her past anymore!  I actually applaud her for not tolerating James’ mischief for this shows us that Kris is AWARE that what she has done with those men is WRONG and must not be tolerated.  Ergo, you see a culture of learning in this idea–that Kris Aquino has changed significantly and she wants to protect her marriage.  Secondly, I must say that I am truly impressed by Kris’ efforts to make her marriage work and expunge disturbing factors such as Mayen. This just proves that contrary to popular belief, the Kris-James tandem is more than the I-have-fame-and-money-give-me-company kind of set-up. Come on guys, I am sure that during the hype of their relationship everyone was thinking of that! It’s inevitable because Kris is older than James and he had really humble steps towards his basketball career which makes James really susceptible to monetary prizes even that means he has to marry a truly “one-of-a-kind” woman.

I hate to do this but I would have to give Jinkee Pacquiao as a parallel example.  Okay fine, I supported Jinkee during the hype of the Krista Ranillo issue.  However, I always wished that Jinkee did better than giving subtle hints of her wrath for Krista.  She’s Jinkee Pacquiao, the wife of a gazillionaire world-famous boxer.  I believe Jinkee could have done more than just interviews and crying in public when matters about her marriage were brought up, etc.  You know, she could have confronted Krista herself and reminded that girl of her status and position so she could have stopped acting like a very important person in Manny’s life.  I would see that as a huge manifestation of empowerment–that she is not threatened by Manny’s gloves (figuratively, okay) or lured by the riches her husband continues to shower her–I mean like she only sees
those riches as a bonus but still prioritizes her sole possession of Manny.  If you’re a woman, you surely know how EXCRUCIATING it is if you know that your man is sticking his dick in someone else’s hole.  Just SMSing another girl and denying it even if you know it is already infuriating enough, okay?  I’m not being idealistic here… But I believe that NEVER should the man’s wealth be an enough patch for those heart wounds those affairs are leaving.  Why? Because by doing that, you cultivate a culture of being an underdog.  And women, don’t be underdogs in your relationship especially if you are in a marriage–that is like digging your own emotional grave.  Depression sucks, I’m telling you. It affects you, your view of your children and your children as well in the long run.

Well if you will say ay si Kris naman ang mas malaking kita kay James kaya okay lang sa kanya ‘yun ‘no!  Hindi nya habol ang pera ni James! Exactly!  Kris has all the wealth and the fame that every woman envies once in a while. She could have just shrugged this problem off and let James have all the good times he wants but in real life, this is not the case. Universally, when a woman’s relationship is threatened by an outside factor, it gives a stabbing and a stinging pain REGARDLESS if you live in Payatas or in Valle Verde. Folks, this is why I’m giving my back to Kris in this issue–for she has proven that there’s more worth in her identity than we have ever thought of. A prominent figure like her who has been always seen by women as the ideal example for wealth, career and intelligence stepping down from the pedestals of an ideal life is something to really admire…and in many ways, teaches us a lot of lessons too.

To girls, confiding with a MARRIED man about your heartache is wrong.  It gives a lot of wrong impressions and a lot of false instincts. When we confide with a man, the tendency of a man is to be comforting and kind–two characteristics that women WILL ALWAYS, ALWAYS FALL FOR even if it’s just for the sake of creating a positive image! That is what your girlfriends are for!  You might not sometimes intend it but that is already subtle flirting.  To add, how would you feel if you were put into the shoes of the girlfriends of the men you confide with? ;) Will you end up sleeping with peace of mind and security? I’m betting my money for otherwise.

7.0 Magnitude Earthquake strikes Haiti

January 13, 2010

UNITED STATES – Small town Haiti got rocked by a 7.0 Magnitude Earthquake earlier today. It was a surprise to all people in Haiti who are totally overwhelmed and shocked by the sudden strike of such powerful Earthquake.

I heard read about the news just moments ago, but the said dates back 6-8 hours based on the upload time of YouTube videos showing the destruction the 7.0 Magnitude Earthquake has caused. Haiti’s Capital Port-au-Prince is one of the most damaged locations. A witness, just 15 minutes away from the capital confirms the utterly devastating damage the earthquake has caused to the metro.

He was about to upload a beautiful picture of an Avocado that he sliced to show to his friends over the internet, prior the earthquake took place. The witness also revealed to the media that he wasn’t sure what was going on, and that it sounded like a train rocketed by the street. That, until he noticed the glass windows breaking and the his whole house literally rocking back and forth.

The epicenter of the Earthquake was just around 16 miles away from the said capital mentioned above.

This Is Mostly Word Vomit

January 12, 2010

I am a very vocal person.  This means that when I’m feeling something that needs to be let out, I do it in whatever way possible.  I have to admit that there are times wherein I would rather stay silent because I’ve so many things to say that only silence will do–and this happens whenever I’m mad, frustrated, sad, disappointed or raging in anger.

Last night, a good friend of mine talked over the phone.  She has been experiencing problems with her significant other and with two mutual friends whom I’ve recently discovered, have been backbiting us for the longest time.  I wanted to confront the two but knowing me, I’d rather not stoop down their level and I know that they will just deny everything we have discovered.

The usual Clarissa will always find venues for outlet.  I am not the kind of person who keeps it all in her heart until she just bursts one day in a completely wrong setting.  And all my friends know this, I vented out through my Plurk account. I plurked something very specific and very hitting (for an average reasonable person that is) and to my surprise, people kept on asking me through YM and SMS if they’re the one whom I’m pertaining to.  I even have a friend who never followed-up on me anymore when I ignored her deliberately today because I was finding it very painful to talk (because of my cough).

Now this had me thinking, why are these people guilty?  If they are not guilty, why do they seem  guilty?  Is there something that I have to know?  Have they also been doing the same things those two girls have been doing to me if not to my friend and I?  Why?

I shared this story to a very good friend of mine and funnily, he experienced the same instance often.  We can easily shrug this off since we’re not the guilty parties.  But after we come to think of it, it’s a very sad sad sad situation.  Why?  Because it makes us think that these people we treat as best friends might be really doing something awful behind our banks.  The reactions are just epic.  Please don’t call me an overanalyzer.  If you’re a rational person, you would understand that there is deep sense within Shakespeare’s thought–that suspicions always haunt the guilty mind.

Forgive me for this.  I just had to vent it out. :)

Hater Infuriates Filipinos Online

January 10, 2010

The article dates back some time, around the mid 2008. But it looks like just now, after a few fellow Kababayan have re-discovered the article; that hundreds of thousands of Filipinos are reacting and taking action against the so-said Filipino Hater, for me, the biggest ass of all time.

I have nothing against people criticizing the Filipino Culture and the Philippines as a country at whole. But everything can be exaggerated and taken over the line. And so did the little (not) noteworthy article of a guy by the name Nathan Rocha of FaceDeluxe.Com cross over the line.

It is not surprising to note that the whole Filipino Community from the position I view it to be very upset. Many have sent in hate mail and expressed their incomparable anger towards the writer of that (shit) piece. Like he can’t understand our culture and the way of life of us here in the Philippines. I also can’t understand his culture. I won’t hit his country or his nation, because that ain’t right and would make me not a better person than he is. But instead, I’m coming to question the author himself if he is actually really a human.

I mean, how could such a freak come up with such a post. Has he ever been to the Philippines? I guess not. Maybe he’s furious that his little video store (where Filipinos rent movies) don’t return the movies on time. Nalulugi na ‘yata s’ya dun. Poor little business going down because of that?

I’d like to rant all day because of this, but at the end of the day he is not worth it, and I’m sure he’s enjoying it (getting all the attention, you know). Since it looks like he isn’t getting attention at home or in his community.

There are indeed those kind of people who know not better but express their hatred through words, trying to act as if they’re someone great but in fact are nothing better, yet even somewhat worse than the people he talks about.

You must be wondering about whom I’m talking about and what article he has brought up that has caused many violent reactions among Filipinos on Plurk, Facebook and their respective blogs. I guess, it’s your time to read the post and be infuriated by the senseless, insensitive and inaccurate review of the Filipino and the Philippines.
