Apple reclaims 16 Domains worth of Web Space

Apple fights back. After the copyright infringement done by a guy named Daniel Bijan for purchasing domain names in the likes of macbookpro.com, .net, .org and .biz. What I cannot understand about the rightful web space of Apple is why they had to take away other domains, like macfriend.com and ipodsbaratos. If Apple really wanted [...]

Of course Apple doesn't need/want the domain names. For one, it's a waste of money, and two, they'll just redirect that to their original apple homepage apple.com.

The issue here is that it might seem a legitimate website since the domain contains Apple's trademarks; it might be used for phishing.

If someone hadn't infringed their trademark, Apple wouldn't have bought the domains anyway, since they don't need to. But now that someone actually infringed it, they had to buy it back to protect their trademark.

Please post only articles with well-formed arguments. This one is a thumbs-down for me, though I still like the others (apart from the PBB posts).

Thank you for your feedback. My point here was how rude Apple rebutted the "online squatter" by taking all of his domain names. I do get your point and you are correct with that, but there are tons of other websites that contain the trademarked words like iMac, Mac, iPhone or iPod and they do not a thing about it. And all of a sudden, they get all domains that someone registered that contains their trademarks.

Hi Kevin. I'm surprised on the other names like "blueipod", "macfriends", and "redipods". Agree with you on the existence of other sites containing the trademarked words and even establishing communities about them.
