Enough with the issue of the green archers and the blue eagles. and stop this paulit ulit na “rivalry issue” and give the other schools more media break.

Ateneo and Lasalle are not the UAAP. so please give the other schools a break / exposure. Lagi puro nalang kayo laman sa tv and newspapers at laging gustong pagusapan.

    Enough is enough!!

STOP THE FIGHTING PLEASE………….i think this rae017 has an identity problem…….she is not an atenean…….she defends the school by judging dlsu…..be civil

dlsu people, dont over react.. pllllllleeeeease?

let me remind you again.. dlsu got suspended for one year, can you imagine that? DLSU ,a very respective, powerful university being suspended.. can you imagin that ? di basta basta ang masuspend sa uaap, lalo na kung isa ka sa pinakasikat at maimpluwensyang eskwelahan sa bansa.. it means grabe talga ang ginawa na pandaraya ng dlsu.. hindi yun simpleng bagay…. hindi lang isang peke ang dokumento ng player nyo, dalawang peke ang papers ng estudyante nyo, tpos nakalaro …… try to think….. Kinonsinte/ tinolerate yun ng dlsu administration kaya nakapasok ung 2 illegal players nyo dati…. eh minalas nahuli at nabuko kadayaan nyo.. ayan! nasuspend kayo ng one year, binawi pa ung crown sa inyo… can you just imagine ung kahihiyan na yon? mismong dlsu administration ang lumakad at nag ayos ng fake documents para makalaro ang illegal na players…. mayayabang na players nyo…. madadaya pa mismong dlsu admin….

so now, imagine the crime? ang tindi dba? nakakahiya….

probably…it will NEVER stop. Can’t blame anyone though. It somehow contributes to the health of both schools to compete. They are, after all, advocates of a fighting spirit…and often its the spirit of fighting that keeps people, and organizations alike, alive.

As for me…I don’t mind, especially for someone who recognizes the validity of rivalries. It just goes on and on and on, until one gives up, which is unlikely the case.

Imagine yourself having a rival and you’ll probably get the point.

    No offense/harm intended to anyone.

    Peace! =)

  • lesbo

why would students from other schools get jealous to the school of BOBO – ateneo?

even if admu go to outrank UP in THES, Ateneo is still a BOBO school, BOBO university.

Do you even know what you’re saying? /:)

    @lesbo – I believe you’re the BOBO one?

DISCLAIMER: I am from La Salle and never really bothered with all the basketball games because 1) I’m not into basketball even if I do watch a few games and 2) they get rather overrated. I admire ADMU’s play this year and sincerely believe that they deserved the basketball championship this year.

I will admit, there were LaSallians who went to the bonfire, some of them are my acquaintances. Their Atenean friends smuggled them in just to have some fun together (and well, we are curious as to how ADMU celebrates their victory). Neither them nor their friends had any idea of what was going to happen to the bonfire.

Then the contorversial bonfire happened. They were apalled, their friends were apalled. And you know what pissed them off? Some people who clearly saw the names started CHEERING as those names were burning. They said they heard a few comments like “serves them right” or something along those lines. It wasn’t playful banter anymore, nor was it trash talk that could be easily shrugged off like in normal basketball games. It sounded downright insulting and that’s why all the drama started.

To the ADMU/DLSU fanatics who don’t go to either school, let me sound elitist for a moment and SHUT UP BECAUSE MOST OF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT. If you people haven’t noticed, the rivalry of DLSU and ADMU stays in the basketball court (and sometimes extends to Gateway and the nearby malls), then that’s it. Done. Outside, we’re civil, even friends. I admit that DLSU has had a hell lot of shortcomings, but we’ve been trying to make up for it in recent years. We did give up the trophy and the medals and took the one-year suspension in stride even if it was really painful or the athletes who deserved the award.

@dan: by the way you talk, I seriously doubt that you’re an Atenean. You haven’t done anything but bash La Salle and glorify the Ateneo.

@lesbo: La Salle acknowledges that the Ateneo is good in some fields where La Salle isn’t and vice-versa. No one has the right to call Ateneo – or any other school for that matter – bobo. Your ignorance shows your lack of intellect.

@Elfred: I admire you and thank you for keeping the true spirit of sportsmanship alive.

Anyway, this is getting too long. Sorry for helping keep the issue alive, I just couldn’t resist with all the mindless (yet somehow amusing) trash talk.

  • gelo

i super agree with judith razon……..

the dlsu and admu rivalry ay sa sports lang….sa araneta lang……pagkatapos nun, civil n…..

ung mga makikitid ang utak jan (like DAN)…please manahimik n lang….

  • Judith Razon

P.S. (because I forgot to complete my replies)

@kelvin: As much as I like being in DLSU and as much as I respect ADMU, I believe that statistics are overrated.

@rae017: I think you’re another poseur. Wala lang, I just felt like echoing what other people said. (lol random)

@gelo: Thanks for agreeing with me. I’m glad to see a person sharing the same views as mine.

Another thing: the New York Times article was written by someone who only knows Ateneo and hasn’t even stepped into the DLSU campus. Just because some of our players look a bit rugged doesn’t mean they’ve got thug potential. Don’t get me wrong; I think that the Ateneans’ description was accurate, but I just think that DLSU was prejudged a bit too much based on appearances (and since when were headbands associated with being menacing?).

  • dan

    to judith razon,

All the things that I have said are all correct. It is all proven. The reason why I talk that way whenever I bash lasalle is because I wanted to sound that way. So that it will sound really strong and aggressive. Do you have a problem with that?

So you are telling me now that all ateneans and lasallians should speak in english?

You said you never really bothered with all the basketball games because your not into basketball… Well… I like college basketball a lot. I love it. And it runs in my veins.

Dont act smart on me. Because you are just normal. As if you know everything.

  • Judith Razon

@dan: I never said anyone had to speak (or type) in English. Some of your arguments are faulty, and it’s something I did not expect from an Atenean (thus, I doubt[ed] your identity).

I know a lot of people (not just my high school or college friends, but also casual acquaintances) from all 6 colleges within DLSU who got DLSU as their first choice school of their own free will. They’re happy where they are now.

I also conducted a survey among my batchmates for Sociology class (I was also a frosh when I did that), asking what their first choice school was with a few follow-up questions (I got from all 6 colleges, random sampling). Ateneo led in the survey ONLY in one course (not even a whole college): European Studies. The only college where DLSU ranked lower than ADMU is the College of Education, with more than 40% of the respondents wanting to go to PNU, some others in UP.

Isolated incident during high school: a classmate of mine passed the top 3 universities. She wanted to go to DLSU but her parents wanted her to go to ADMU because it was nearer to their house and “same course naman, walang mawawala sa ‘yo” (it was some business course). You know what she did? She cried. A lot. The whole class was so distracted that we had to pacify her for the whole homeroom period (20 minutes).

Never did I claim nor imply that I know everything. I know what I know based on experience and firsthand knowledge (except for the narration of my acquaintances about the bonfire; I’m sure they have their Atenean friends to back up their story).

I know for a fact that DLSU students and faculty respect ADMU as a whole. Does that mean that the respect is not returned? After all, I don’t know everything. If so, then maybe I was wrong about the Ateneo. Maybe the people there are a bunch of elitists after all and the people I met are just really special.

The same applies to basketball. I thought the trash talks and colorful cartolinas full of bad puns about the school and/or players stayed in the basketball court, then almost everyone is back to being civil – even friends – a day or so after the game. Was I wrong with that as well? Do Ateneans bear grudges? Because normal DLSU students don’t. The admin or alumni, maybe. But not the students nor the faculty.

Anyway, this will be my last reply. I don’t want to revive a supposedly-dead issue more than I already have.

  • Patti

    @Judith Razon

Uhm Judith. Sorry for the terms and all, but what you’re trying to point out or reason out has got nothing to do with the game. Like people like DLSU better? Psh. Look, I have nothing against DLSU, its a good school. But see, that survey has got nothing to do with playing “the game” at UAAP.

  • http://www.plurk.com/demfae Judith Razon

@Patti – I was challenging dan’s claim that all of the things he said are true, not just with the basketball but with everything else that he said (like majority of the students studying in DLSU having ADMU as their first choice but because they failed the ACET, they went to DLSU instead). As far as I’m concerned, his claims outside the basketball issue are not true (though I didn’t like how he stated DLSU’s wrongdoings in the past with the “illegal” players, I know that they contain more than just shreds of truth). I know I overstepped my bounds with regards to the original article posted above, but not to his comments.

Judith Razons last blog post..demfae says ダンが嫌い。

  • Patti

Uhm. May I just say that I think this “thing” between ADMU and DLSU is getting a bit to hard already. I mean, for goodness sake people, this is just a game. What happens at the court, stays in the court. People make mistakes. I beg to disagree, but Ateneo’s action/s last time at the bonfire was just so wrong. But then again, people make mistakes. A lot of stupid mistakes. Its just an experience where in we should just take it, learn from it, then ignore it. :) )
