Philippines leading Television Network Abs Cbn was said to do a remake of the popular movie Twilight that flashed on movie screens world wide and captivated millions of viewers and audiences from different age groups. Based from a popular book, the said Twilight story has made it to the big screen and might have soon flashed on our local television screens as Takipsilim.
Yet, Abs Cbn denies any truth behind the said remake that was announced earlier on the ascbnnews.com website. It’s confusing why the news website of abs cbn would publish something that isn’t true, yet even before the television network was able to respond about the Takipsilim remake of Twilight, fans from all corners of the world signed an online petition as a negative response to the idea that Abs Cbn had in mind.
According to the news, the local channel has paid 1,000,000o US Dollar for the licensing to start Takipsilim’s taping in next year Feburary (2009) with Cathy Garcia-Molina spearheading as director.
A poster was published somewhere on the internet showing Shaina Magdayao and Rayver Cruz who were supposed to be the main cast of the television Takipsilim, if ever it would screen on Philippine Television but it’s very intriguing that after all the news that have spread abs cbn stands strong and denies any truth about any rumors that have spread, how would they then explain the news article that came out a few days ago?
From our point of view, were one of the thousands who have signed the petition and are totally against the remake of Twilight. Abs Cbn should look for something of their own, something unique, they surely cannot stand the international demand of stopping them copying anything like this. It would really shower a bad image on the television station if in case Twilight pursues.
