After the announcement done by our administration staff, we have upgraded our blog to Wordpress 2.5. Everything seems to be fine, but one plugin is just not working properly, but anyways so be it. As I logged into the new administration panel (aka dashboard) I was shocked in amazement and stunned as well, everything looked so different and new, everything has been put around, the whole dashboard has been rennovated and I had to orient a bit prior starting this post. If you are a wordpress user hosting your own blog, we strongly recommend you to upgrade to wordpress 2.5 now, as early as possible!

Reminders before upgrading!

But be reminded to turn off all your plugins before you upgrade, because it may cause an critical errors to your blog and may cause some plugins to break, as most likely all legacy plugins won’t work properly in 2.5.

Also don’t forget to create a dummy folder on your host to which you will copy your wp-content folder and wp-config.php file.

Upgrading in short:

After you have double checked on our reminders above, download wordpress 2.5 from the wordpress website. Now, upload the whole pack to your host in the wished directory. (for example: /public_html/*upload here*) When you extract the file, the route would look like this /public_html/wordpress

Move everything from the /wordpress file to the directory where your old wordpress files are. PLEASE BE SURE YOU SAVED A COPY OF WP-CONTENT and WP-CONFIG.PHP Now, move the files that we asked you to keep a copy to their original places, and you are ready to go!
